From everyone at Uncle Otis, we would like to thank everybody for their ongoing support. This year we have decided not to participate in Black Friday.
2020 has led to a reevaluation of how we spend our money, more for supporting our local community, and less on discount shopping. These are individuals and families that have invested to pursue their dreams to offer something unique to the world, the community, to you.
Our focus this year is the support of our local community and the environment. Several of our independent labels make considerable efforts to minimize their environmental footprint within the industry. By upcycling and recycling they minimize the amount of waste that gets put into our waters and landfills. Shopping with Uncle Otis allows us to continually support these brands, in turn creating a positive feedback loop. These brands themselves support small local communities with fair wages and in turn a better standard of living.
We would like to shine a light on our local community and the diverse businesses that offer like-minded services and products. If you choose not to shop with us this Black Friday we urge you to support the businesses that make your neighborhood unique.
As an alternative to the big stores, try @kensingtonfruitmarket
. Instead of having a Starbucks coffee, try @moonbean_coffee
. Instead of buying a book from Amazon, try @bmvbooksannex
. Other great local spots include @happycoffeeandwine
(alcoholic beverages); @cumbraes
(meat deli); @pizzaconzo
(pizza restaurant); @paulsboutiqueto
(music instruments); @bikesonwheels; @imanishijapanesekitchen;
. If you’re looking for any recommendations please reach out and we’ll be happy to assist you. Your hard-earned dollars spent on these businesses help sustain our local community and drive it towards a better future.
We are extremely appreciative of everyone’s positive feedback and support. It means the world to us and allows us to keep doing what we love.
