The Auto Union "Duckling" was designed by Paul Jaray. Jaray cut his teeth streamlining airships before moving on to cars.
One of his early collaborations resulted in a car's top speed increasing from 49 mph to 62 mph just through the application of aerodynamics.
He worked closely with Auto Union. The trademark symbol of Auto Union (and present-day Audi), the four overlapping rings, symbolized the four marques forming Auto Union: Audi, DKW, Horsch and Wanderer.
Auto Union was merged with Audi and NSU in 1969.
