Your phone in my clasp,
I pretend to read,
I hear you shout, leave it.
I pretend ignorance,
You surge over hurriedly,
I laugh. I hear, give it.
Cursing, shivering, a pounce,
Lo! Handset drops, mad, you swing,
My beautiful face, you hit it.
Ears ringing, head swinging I see,
Picking the devil up, you lit up,
It's breathing, I breathe.
Never touch it again, you warn,
Recent apps, ah, Amazon.
You walk away, raging, leave it.
It kills my mood, I wonder maybe,
I'm getting paranoid,
That text, you'd be fine ‘baby’.
Sorry, in my arms you slide.
Something, I ask, you hide,
Nothing baby, I'm sorry, forget it.
Enchantress sings spell to her boy,
Save a horse, ride a cowboy...
Annoyed, I murmur, leave it.
Enveloping in love, don't let go,
My everyday, you hug, blurt
I have to leave soon, someday.
Hurt me with a truth, but
never hurt me with a lie, I said.
Here, Why do I feel like dead.
Why, I ask. You kiss, not speak,
Unbutton, you're on your knees,
Slowly, I break, weak, I do it.
Holding you, I take pot luck,
You got to give, I ask again,
Cancer, what, did you mean it?
I reach for your phone,
Doctors, mom, dad, best friend,
Everybody knows, why not me?
I'm selfish, you tell me,
I couldn't see you die before me;
You cheat, I can't believe it.
Call. Are you okay, baby? Mom asks.
I break, listening vaguely,
I'll be alright, relax, leave it.
Dropping your phone, say, a ride?
No, sleep, breathe, I had to feel it.
You smile, I'd not go, believe it.
