Since the beginning of social distancing I have been exploring ways to improve my life, from reading more, to journaling, to improving my sleep.
One of the best habits I have incorporated is my morning cold shower.
Having studied Wim Hof and his breathing technique I was fascinated by his adventures in the cold and have really felt the benefit in my life.
Every morning, I wake up, take a poop 💩 and then hop in the shower. I start hot for about 1-2 minutes and then finish with a minimum of 60 seconds as cold as I can get it.
At first this was a huge struggle, to the point that I hated it and made excuses not to do it, now I look forward to it.
It's a morning challenge.
I know that if I can do this, I can do anything that comes at me that day.
It helps wake me up.
It gets my mind right.
It makes me feel like my day is starting off properly.
I encourage you to give it a try, here's a way to develop the habit.
Start with a hot shower and for the first five days, finish with 15 seconds cold. Add 15 seconds every five days, so days 6-10 you'll do 30 seconds, 11-15 will be 45 seconds and by day 16 you are at a minute without even realizing it.
If you do it, please let me know how it works for you.
You merely embraced the cold...I was born in it.
