Meet one of the newest members! A baby goose or gander, who was hatched by a hen. He’s the only survivor of four. I say “he” because mum’s hoping for a goose to be a friend for the new gander, so it’ll surely be another gander!
When a hen hatches a goose egg the gosling needs to be ‘pilled’ to encourage them to eat. A hen will show a gosling what she’d normally show chicks, which isn’t what a gosling needs. So they’re pilled in order for their little stomachs to be lined, and an appetite to be started. The ‘pill’ is a mix of chick crumbs and egg which is then rolled into a small worm 🐣 #Gosling
