When I started my business, I got all types of requests for speaking, interviews, guest blogs, networking & events - and I would say “yes” to all of them.
I offered clarity calls to everyone! I spent every other minute in my Facebook group educating & engaging. I extended the length of coaching sessions, wanting to exceed expectations.
With all of that visibility & relationship building, my business took off but as it grew, the way I spent my time and interacted with my community did not.
One night I found myself in tears, yelling at my husband for bringing me ice-cream because it was a flavor I didn’t like. Any guesses as to what brought that on?
because I had no parameters around how (or when) I was operating in my business. Meaning, people weren’t respecting my boundaries - and I surely wasn’t enforcing them - because there were no guidelines that made it easy to do, or not do, something.
I wanted to help people but by having no strict guidelines, boundaries or containers I was overextending myself, operating out of alignment with my values and in the process hurting all of them.
That night, I gave myself permission to make big changes to how I was operating and the minute I did my business DOUBLED. Okay, not the MINUTE I did it, but we are talking within MONTHS.
I was prioritizing self-care, cultivating relationships and enjoying white space in my life.
