I celebrate #earthday everyday in small and big ways. Enjoying the sunset, putting my feet into the sand of the beach, picking up litter when I was a child, running a @sfenvironment #greenbusiness for 7 years, nurturing plants that have come to live with me, and doing my best to raise my kids to be more conscious global citizens. The air we breathe is the same as the leaves in the trees. The blood in our veins is the water of the rivers and the oceans. The bones in our body like the coral of the seabeds. The fire in our belly like heat from the sun. Some of us have felt lack and fear in these times of uncertainty, but it is because we have held onto human-made creature comforts and defunct systems of order. If all technology and luxuries were lost today, we would still find our way because Nature will provide for us. We would become more attune to the rhythms of the Earth, as it beats the same as the rhythm of our hearts. We are all connected, and its time to fight for a more balanced coexistence on such a wondrous planet. We fight fear with love. So, first we must cultivate compassion towards ourselves in order to have compassion for others.🌍🌎🌏

As we head into the 2nd week of working out at home, we wanted to focus a little on gratitude, the healthiest of all emotions. 
Given the irregularities of these weeks, it’s really easy to find ourselves focusing on the additional stresses or worries. One of the best (and healthiest) things we can do is remind ourselves of all that we still have and are grateful for. In addition to your health and wellbeing, try to take time to reflect on the things that you appreciate or, in some cases, take for granted in the pace of our normal lives. This way we can utilize this time as an opportunity to lay the kind of foundation we want to have when things return to normal. 
We at Studiomix are definitely grateful for you and your support in these uncertain times. It truly means so much to stay connected with you through the current challenges we all face.

WORKOUT 03.24
Perform 5-8 sets of each exercise in order, rest as needed between sets.
- jumping jacks (50 total)
- wall sit or wall sit w/ snow angel (20 sec)
- supine single leg lower (8 reps/side, slowly!)
- slow negative push up (8 reps)
- duck walk forward or forward/back (30 sec)
- hollow hold arm flutter (30 sec)

Intense emotions and #highanxiety means it's time for a #studybreak . Went to @studiomix #vinyasaflow #yoga to slow my pace, recalibrate, center myself, and be gentle with myself. Something happens when I'm breathing deeply for 50 minutes in my skin, reconnecting with my parasympathetic nervous system. I come out on the other side, like I just gave myself a deep hug, reaching past the bones of my rib cage. At the end of this session- a mixture between the filtered sunlight dappling on my face, the steady glow of an internal ember, and the music choice of #yogi @ronnronnronn had me weeping in shavasana (corpse pose). I laid there on the mat; I had squeezed all my tension out through a session of fluid folding/unfolding, stretching/contracting, compressing/decompressing of my body. I released something in the form of quiet tears, streaming down the sides of my face into the wells of my ears. It was as-if my body was a towel drenched in pain, and I was wringing out its contents. I hope that whatever it is/was had died, for that was clearly too heavy for me to continue holding; it no longer served me. Just like a snake who sheds her skin painlessly and easily, this struggle is being laid to rest; bit-by-bit, breath-by-breath, step-by-step. 🐍🌬️

The anatomy of #selfcare is leaving the game to take my favorite #honeyflow #restorativeyoga class @studiomixsf to close last week w/ gratitude, and open this week w/ intention. Grateful that the #niners made it to #superbowl54, and so many people came together to celebrate and enjoy each other's company. ❤️💛 Intention: I embrace myself wherever I am at in the moment, and be patient w/ myself & my process. I did another brainspotting therapy session on Friday, and processed some deeply buried childhood memories, triggered by some recent nightmares. Spending time in the studio is like giving myself a hug. 🤗💗💝

Recovering from an emotional avalanche is not easy. Sometimes, I'm buried under layers of thick snow- cold, alone, and listless. Each thought- a snowflake soflty landing on a heap of grief. If it weren't for my children, there may not be a reason to get out of bed at all, but this isn't what I came for. ❄️🏔️🌨️ I came to feel, to give, to receive, to love, be loved and leave this place better than I had found it. I came to push, to breathe, to birth, and to grieve. This is all a part of the human experience. This requires the innate light to remain bright to reignite others and remind them of their own brilliance. So, I fiercely fight to protect my joy, from being stamped out from the heaviness and darkness that creeps through. I keep putting one foot in front of the other, transforming darkness into light with every step, slaying my fears with a sword galvanized through the fire of my life's experience. I safeguard my inner stillness from the storm, like a fortress amid the fury of battle. ⚔️🗡️

⏸️Pause: It's Finals these two weeks. I walk into my printer room, and the floor looks like this- essentially the brain scan of my current situation. ▶️Start: I started this semester with 5 upper division classes, 3 kids in 3 different schools, split from a 10-yr relationship with someone who is recently incarcerated w/ a 33-month sentence, living that #singlemom life, suffered from PTSD/RTS and disassociation from my body from childhood trauma, I lost my grandmother two days ago, and lost so much weight from stress. ⏭️ FF to today: I'm seeing two therapists (one for  talk-therapy for relationship patterns & one for brain-spotting trauma treatment) + a physician who prescribed some anxiety meds (debating on taking them), got my #fitness antidote on lockdown w/ #yoga & #boxing @studiomixsf, #bootcamp & #combatcardio @bfit_sf, #mealprep delegated to my kids, and I just sit with the grief and count my blessings in a gratitude log, striving not to surrender to these torrential rains. ⏹️ Stop: I share my struggles with you because #supermom is a myth. People should only be doing their personal best, and that will vary from moment to moment. The hardest lesson I have learned from this is to ask for or seek help AND be open to accepting help. Sometimes, it's the strong that need it the most because they're busy being strong for everyone else, and they'll be the last to ask for support. Courage comes in all forms, and it takes steps to move from feeling ashamed for having needs into accepting that Helpers need help, too.
