My 9th/10 ASEAN country!!! BRUNEI DARUSSALAM
A lot of people asked me before, “why bother going to Brunei? there’s nothing to see there!” Well, I gotta say.. maybe there’s not that much to see, but THERE IS SO MUCH TO LEARN.
Some quick observations:
Very developed and well governed, lots of government money spent on civic projects, beautiful big mosques and a big museum, hot and humid, no pedestrians (have to drive everywhere), very few people in the malls or on the streets, city seems deserted, hardly any tourists (because no alcohol allowed in the country), no cigarettes or cigarette smoke, clean and well landscaped, very few billboards, very few chain stores or global brands, malls are small and local, lots of local restaurants and a few good restaurants and a night market, hotel was new and very inexpensive, interesting and easy sightseeing for a day.
Will post a blog re more of my takeways on this trip.
Here‘s a photo of Omar Ali Saiffudien Mosque that I took w my phone.
