Did you get plenty of beach time in these school holidays or are you still recovering after the exhaustion of the working parent juggle? 🌊🤦🏼♀️ ~How to achieve a family friendly workplace ~
There are numerous benefits no matter if you’re on the employer or employee side.
This doesn’t necessarily mean allowing employees to bring their kids to work, but rather providing team members with the support and flexibility they need to balance their work and family commitments.
The orgnaisational benefits may include improved culture, 💜increased discretionary effort, higher engagement, reduced unplanned leave 😊and lower turnover.
However flexible working arrangements are not just a ‘nice to have’. Did you know the Fair Work Act 2009 👀contains entitlements that employers must adhere to?
This includes providing eligible employees in the national relations system with the legal right to request flexible working arrangements.
There is a variety of eligibility criteria for employees which may include, but is not limited to, parents, carers, over 55s, employees living with disability and more.
Employers must take all requests for flexibility seriously and provide a written response within 21 days. So if you’re on the employer side, take some time to understand your obligations - it will help you too!
