Clean up your cash
If you’ve swapped your plastic straw for a metal one but bank with Barclays, HSBC, Santander or NatWest (to name a few), you’re investing your money into fossil fuels every day. Yep, that’s right.
Barclays is Europe’s dirtiest bank, funding coal power and arctic oil and gas exploration. The mining of these materials leads to oil spills into our oceans, fires, and land erosion. And the burning of it we all know makes *drumroll*... CO2.
So how can you divest from these dirty banks and put your money towards green investments? Switch your bank!
I’ve just made the switch from Barclays to @triodosuk
bank. They help support environmental, cultural and social organisations and businesses, from big organic farms to local orgs.
On their website you can see how they help people and businesses near you! Like @southallblacksisters
founded in 1979 to support Asian and African-Caribbean’s women, the organisation challenges gender related violence and supports those affected. And @share_community
who supports adults with disabilities to gain independence.
If you have the privilege, put your money where your mouth is and make the switch. #divestfrombarclays
or your other dirty bank and don’t forget to tell them why!
