I remember how as a kid, I used to be really really competitive. I couldn't stand seeing someone else scoring higher marks than me, becoming the teacher's favourite or even getting close to my best friends. To me, that throne was mine to have. But as I started growing up, I began to realize that someone will always get ahead of me, beating me to my own game. I can't keep being the best, the smartest or the prettiest. This taught me to be more confident and content in life. However, there are still days when I can't help but compare myself and my life with others. On days like these, I remind myself of who I am and why where everyone else is doesn't matter.
After almost 23 years now, this is what I'd want to tell everyone who goes through the same:
If looking at other's extravagant lives on social media makes you feel like you're not living your best life.
Let me tell you, if you're chasing a passion that makes you happy, if you're absolutely adored by the people you love, if you've managed to survive all the tough times only to be a stronger you, believe me or not,
you're living a life that most of them can only just dream of.
