THE STOOGES - "Fun house", 1970.
To me this is the most impressive album of The Stooges, even if "Search and destroy" (Raw Power) is my favourite song. But this record is simply perfect. Very dirty, raw, sleazy but beautiful.
It catched me in the very early 90s: I discovered MC5 and Dead Boys before and asked my "Record Dealer" for some music with that kind of energy and attitude. By the time, i think it was in 1991, i never heard of Iggy Pop knowingly. Later i made the connection to Bowie (China girl) or "Lust for life", "Real wild child" and "Cry for love" which i've known for years. "Fun house" is a hell of a record!! It's not just THAT proto Punk musically, there are lot of progressive elements in the songs - but all the dirt, the attitude, all the junk; well, it's PUNK!! "TV eye" and "1970" to me are the very outstanding tracks on it - but the creepy "Dirt" and the epical 8 minutes track "Fun house" as well. You can smell cigarettes & alcohol, taste cocaine on your tongue (and teeth) while listening to those songs... Messed up! Dangerous. Intense to the max..
"1970" with that tribal drums takes me to a journey to.. hell? Heaven? Earth? Universe? Other places!
Even if i don't take any kind of drugs since decades, i really love the feeling of this record! It lives, it moves... No chance of being callous!
Cheers, dear friends - all the best! 🙏💥🤘🍀
