One blazer, two looks.
Impromptu challenge to myself on a sunny, clear day (more of this bright stuff in the sky? More needing prescription sunglasses? Whatever is going on, I like it!) I had a fun lunch meetup that I wanted to look kind of polished/smart-casual for, and an afternoon appointment that’s more on the casual side and involves changing clothes, and in between needed to head home to walk my dog. I wore a black tee with a knotted neckline, my lovely @universalstandard
Meg navy blazer, and a sparkly beaded necklace that was a hand-me-down from my aunt about 10 years ago.
For the earlier lunch, I wore #witandwisdom
burgundy/navy plaid pants and pewter Frye oxfords with black sheer trouser socks. I love plaid pants as a jeans-alternative.
For the later appointment I did something new, and paired my favorite black joggers with a smart casual outfit, keeping my top half the same and adding these very old navy Cole Haan wedges (which I really, really need to polish - the toes are pretty beat up.) (RE: the joggers: folks, these are the coziest and highest quality ever. I have had them for at least a year, wear them all the time, and NO PILLING or wear and tear that I can feel at all. They are also @universalstandard
, the Hathaway jersey joggers, though they also carry a dressier suiting pair of joggers that I do not have.) I rather liked the effect. I kick around in these pants all the time for at-home loungewear or hanging out with puppies, but I think the substantial weight and soft, high quality jersey go a long way to elevating these pants from ordinary sweats. I’ll do this again with a denim jacket.
