Wowee after taking a ‘me’ day yesterday where all I did was read, watch Netflix and nap it became painstakingly obvious that the last few weeks I’ve been stuck in fight or flight mode.
This came as no surprise to me considering what’s going on around the world combined with how I’ve commenced a strict low FODMAP diet and my routine has been thrown out of balance. But what did surprise me was how I couldn’t tell that I was stressed.
Apparently us guys with Chronic Fatigue are super sensitive to becoming stressed and staying stressed for longer thanks to our malfunctioning nervous systems. Fun times.
Since calming my system down my symptoms are reducing in intensity and I’m able to stay more present - staying present as much as possible and not worrying about the future or thinking about the past is how we heal 🌱
If I continued to stay in fight or flight mode, the cortisol and adrenaline build up would have contributed to continued pain and fatigue. That’s the tricky part with this illness, getting out of that stress cycle and continuing to manage it but once you do your body will thank you 💓 What are some things you find that help reduce your stress levels?
