While it’s super easy to get caught up in out short term ambitions, we can’t forget that our future self is being created by the decisions we make everyday.
-

From a training perspective, this means if we want to look and feel good going forward, you need to take steps to care for your body now.
-

This means.... -
1️⃣ Don’t max our all the freaking time. No one cares how much you bench except you. I wouldn’t recommend training heavy compound movements to failure more than once every two weeks, and even that is a lot to handle long term.
-

2️⃣ Train the muscles you can’t see two times more than the muscles you can. So this means for every one set of push exercises you do (bench, push-ups, etc), perform 2 sets of a pulling exercise (rows, pull-ups, etc). *
-

3️⃣ Lets be honestly, body fat and longevity are practically opposites. Take care of yourself by dropping the excess weight.
-

4️⃣ Your shoulders are a very vulnerable joint. For every 1 set of vertical pulling you perform (pull-ups/pulldowns), perform 2 sets of horizontal pulls (rows). And yes, that is a whole fuck ton of rows. *

5️⃣ Use common sense! Performing exercises that cause even mild amounts of discomfort is like picking a scab. It just makes the problem so much worse than it needs to be.

6️⃣ Again for shoulder health, fight your inner meathead. For every one set of bench you perform dumbbell or barbell, perform one set of a push up variation. *

7️⃣ Don’t be lazy, start every session by mobilizing and warming up your muscles. This could even be just squats and push ups... but do something.

8️⃣ Oh, and after your sessions, stretch! Don’t go 100 to 0, your CNS and muscles will not appreciate it.

9️⃣ Find ways to decrease leverage and put loads on your muscles, without overloading your joints and spine. I put Bulgarian split squats in the picture because they’re a great example of light weights still being able to kick your ass.

Cable or banded pull through checklist:
1. Use light load or band tied behind you at knee height.
2. Have the back of your heels on a block or mat.
3. Let your hands guide back towards the pulley, not down to the ground.
4. Exhale as you descend (this will place your pelvis in the best position to succeed when hinging)
4. Reach butt back towards wall behind you. 
5.Squeeze glutes as you stand.

This is the same area of the elbow that is known as the funny bone... its actually the ulnar nerve that causes all those weird arm and hand sensations when hit! This can become a chronic issue in those who load their triceps, elbows, or forearms excessively, most commonly seen in those who benchpress 🏋️‍♂️, tennis players 🎾, and people who sleep in an overhead baby pose 🛌 (sleep with arms above their heads). Symptoms can cause tingling, numbness or pain on the inside of the forearm and into the ring and pinky fingers. .
➡️ Ulnar Nerve Flossing - First things first, we work on flossing the ulnar nerve to get rid of some inflammation surrounding it.

➡️Triceps Massage ➡️ Banded Triceps Reach ➡️ Long Lever Triceps Holds - Next we massage the triceps to make exercise more tolerable and follow up with strengthening of the triceps muscle. .
➡️ Wrist Flexors Massage ➡️ Kettlebell Eccentric Wrist Curls - Lastly we work on the common wrist flexors which will share an attachment point with the affected area. Targeting this area is underrated IMO for this nerve entrapment.

Unfortunately, I hear this too often from new patients in clinic; people have been told those statements that are completely wrong and scary. Your vertebrae/pelvis cannot be "misaligned" nor "out"; or if they are, you should be in A&E and not a manual therapy clinic.⁣

The big issue with statements like the ones above is that it will leave you, the patient, believe that:⁣
- Your spine is vulnerable and weak⁣
- You need to be careful when moving⁣
- You cannot carry weight⁣
- You HAVE to get treatment to realign everything⁣
- You are only passive in your recovery⁣
⁣
Your back is very strong, and pain is not necessarily associated with something "wrong" with it. Your body is not a machine that is breaking down and pain is not always representative of structural damage. ⁣
It is a complex biopsychosocial multisystem relying on neurophysiology, anatomy, physics, genetic, cognition, psychology and life style. The prevalence of these factors will vary from one person to the other.⁣
Yes, maybe you feel restricted in some areas and that your body does not move as smoothly as it can; and you feel pain; but that does not mean your back is weak, fragile nor crooked.⁣

It is our role, as health therapist, to physically assess you properly to identify the pain sensitive structures and associated patterns, having clear communication that is not based on fear inducing statements, and to involve you in your recovery.⁣

Meet Nelly Faghani, the co-founder of Pelvic Health Solution, which has had massive impact on the physiotherapy profession and has helped thousands of people with back, hip, and pelvic pain and conditions. ⠀🚀 ⠀ @pelvichealthsolutions is an evidence-based teaching company that was founded in 2010 by Nelly Faghani and Carolyn Vandyken, out of the need to develop pelvic health resources in Ontario, an under serviced health concern in this province. Since the inception of our teaching company, pelvic health physiotherapy has blossomed from a handful of physiotherapists to well over 300 therapists now rostered with the Ontario College of Physiotherapists.⠀💪🏽 ⠀ Nelly has helped develop Continence Programs that have been implemented in various long-term care facilities through Ontario. The physical body and our emotional experience are often connected. When you’re feeling an uncomfortable emotion, scan your body for where it “sits”. Many people experience anxiety as a tightening in the stomach muscles, for example. Finding where that tension is for an uncomfortable emotion can be helpful for some relief - imagine breathing into that place, soothing the tension. And be mindful of it - what thoughts or behaviours seem to make the tension reduce or entirely disappear? Η πρώτη συστηματική ανασκόπηση υψηλής ποιότητας που έγινε σχετικά με τους παράγοντες που αυξάνουν την πιθανότητα για εμφάνιση ΑΤ έδειξε ότι υπάρχουν περιορισμένες ερευνητικές αποδείξεις σχετικά με τους παρακάτω παράγοντες: (1) προηγούμενη τενοντοπάθεια στο κάτω άκρο ή κάταγμα, (2) χρήση οφλοξασίνης, (3) αυξημένο χρονικό διάστημα ανάμεσα σε μεταμόσχευση καρδιάς και  θεραπευτική αγωγή κινολόνης, (4) μέτρια κατανάλωση αλκοόλ, (5) προπόνηση στο κρύο (6) μειωμένη ισοκινετική δύναμη για τους πελματιαίους καμπτήρες, (7) παρεκκλήσεις στο πρότυπο βάδισης με μειωμένη πρόσθια κίνηση  κατά την φάση προώθησης, (8) κύληση της ΠΔΚ προς τα έξω κατά την πλήρη επαφή πτέρνας, (9) κάθαρση κρεατινίνης <60 ml/min σε ασθενείς με μεταμόσχευση καρδιάς.

Η πρώτη συστηματική ανασκόπηση υψηλής ποιότητας που έγινε σχετικά με τους παράγοντες που αυξάνουν την πιθανότητα για εμφάνιση ΑΤ έδειξε ότι υπάρχουν περιορισμένες ερευνητικές αποδείξεις σχετικά με τους παρακάτω παράγοντες: (1) προηγούμενη τενοντοπάθεια στο κάτω άκρο ή κάταγμα, (2) χρήση οφλοξασίνης, (3) αυξημένο χρονικό διάστημα ανάμεσα σε μεταμόσχευση καρδιάς και  θεραπευτική αγωγή κινολόνης, (4) μέτρια κατανάλωση αλκοόλ, (5) προπόνηση στο κρύο (6) μειωμένη ισοκινετική δύναμη για τους πελματιαίους καμπτήρες, (7) παρεκκλήσεις στο πρότυπο βάδισης με μειωμένη πρόσθια κίνηση  κατά την φάση προώθησης, (8) κύληση της ΠΔΚ προς τα έξω κατά την πλήρη επαφή πτέρνας, (9) κάθαρση κρεατινίνης <60 ml/min σε ασθενείς με μεταμόσχευση καρδιάς. . Δεν βρέθηκαν στοιχεία που να στηρίζουν το βάρος ή το ΔΜΣ, στατικές μετρήσεις της στάσης της ΠΔΚ & το επίπεδο της φυσικής δραστηριότητας ως παράγοντες κινδύνου. . Κλινική Εφαρμογή: . Συμβουλεύουμε τους ασθενείς: . (1) Μειωμένη χρήση αλκοόλ λιγότερο από 7 μονάδες την εβδομάδα για τους άντρες και λιγότερο από 4 μονάδες για τις γυναίκες. .
