Here are some critters we saw around Jacksonville in a single day!
There were of course the little brown and green anoles that crawl around everywhere frantically. They’re basically Florida’s squirrels. One had turned themselves black. The brown anoles are invasive and a result of breeding to be pets.
We saw a colony of feral cats lounging carelessly outside of the public broadcasting building. We used their parking lot to walk into the Metropolitan Park, which was for some reason closed to the public that day.
While there, we also caught this beautiful heron staring off into the horizon, looking contemplative.
Every moment I get to see an animal exist is a joy.
