has great significance for us cows! Especially for or local buffalo population. Do you know what a Buffalypso is?
The water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) or domestic water buffalo
is a large bovid originating in the Indian subcontinent.
The BUFFALYPSO, which is native to Trinidad, was developed by
pioneer veterinarian Dr Stephen Bennet in the 1960’s through
selective breeding techniques among the hardiest of Indian
water buffaloes. The name is a marriage of the words
Buffalo and Calypso, celebrating a true Trinidadian breed.
The Indian Water Buffalo was not a reliable work animal on
plantations due to their vulnerability to tubercolosis.
The Buffalypso became the answer to this problem, becoming
the most disease resistant beasts of burdern in the world.
Buffalypso has been exported to over 19 countries including the
US and Latin American Region
