This pandemic is adding an extra layer of stress for parents. That’s not to say everyone isn’t affected in their own way but, with homeschooling, working from home, cabin fever, food requests + all the rest of it, parenting just got next level crazy town.
Many people I know feel like they are failing, that they can’t keep up, that they suck.
I am here to remind you that you are doing an amazing job. You are keeping your kid(s) alive. Major props. Remember that how you navigate the ups + downs + this entire lockdown sitch is an educational experience in + of itself. I would argue it may be one of the biggest of their lives thus far. You’re creating memories they will remember that I assure you will not include that time you yelled because you were trying to have that conference call while Kid 1 annoyed Kid 2.
I was taking one day at a time. This new normal is having me take one moment at a time. Each is momentary, am I right?
Here’s to yoga + popcorn for breakfast + for doing the fucking best we can because that’s all we can expect of ourselves + each other. Check your (self) judgement at the door. It isn’t welcome here.
Let’s continue to lift each other up. Share a parenting win below so we can show you some love.
