On deck today: lots of strength and rehab exercises, and a 3 mile easy run through the emptiest streets I could find. This means I ran loops around the same 3 blocks for 30 min. 😅

And yes, today I ran a postpartum PR for a 5k. .

187 miles for the month of March. What. A. Month. From the 💔 of Milwaukee Marathon being cancelled to shelter in place and social distancing. Surviving and thriving through it all. How? My tribe❤. @skuzzy13 and @bridgettemaye always there when I need them. Meagan and @johnnymillion have really made the month bearable and I light up every time I see them out running. @gk_runclub and new faces like @run200s and Ellie keep me inspired and moving forward. My coworkers @childofthemoon , @mojo_5_911 , Sam and Laura keep me smiling every day. We are in it together, if we see each other or not, we are a community.
My IG running community of Trackstreeters keeping me laughing and challenged this month. Such a hard month. Stress. Heartbreak. Fear. Panic. Yet, we come together and help each other rise above it all.

A sunny 5km with my sister @alison_d01 tonight ☀️ it really is perfect running weather today. I have cut back on my running over the past week, limiting my time outside and focusing on ways to stay active whilst safely practicing social distancing 👊🏼 I love keeping active using a training plan to help me stay focused... so I've decided that I'm going to complete the @kayla_itsines Bikini Body Guide 👏🏼 it's a completely different plan to the marathon training plan I've been sticking to the last 11 weeks, but I'm SO excited. Tonight's run was fitting in with that plan, 30 minutes low intensity training 👏🏼 this way I get to keep running but also focus on challenging myself in other ways 😊

I also received this BEAUT of a medal in the post today from @raceatyourpace - I did a total of 111.9 miles this month (I'm literally so annoyed that I didn't round up on tonight's run - I only realised when I got back! 😂) and my first month of 2020 with triple digit mileage. This is also one of my highest monthly mileages ever 😀 so I'm chuffed 👏🏼👏🏼

Throwback to a random selfie on a beautiful golden sunset a few days ago. The USNS Comfort passed through here earlier today. It’s easy to feel scared right now. Who knows if the NYC Marathon will even happen in November. I’ll continue training like it is. Who knows if the NYC Marathon will even happen in November. I’ll continue training like it is. Training alone builds your mental strength🚲
Before the whole corona isolation period started, I use to do 95% of my training with other people and team mates who always provided me with external motivation and accountability for showing up. •
However, now this external drive primarily relies on social media and strava - and therefore I’ve realised how much I’ve been working on my mind and internal drive. •
Being conscious of this now, I’m going to try and not train with headphones, and really train my mind to keep going and push through any ‘walls’ or energy lows that I come across. •
I’ll also definitely share any funny thoughts as they come during training - those who read my blog know what kind of stupidity I come up with😅

This was my hardest run in a long time. I felt totally gassed after mile 2. Miles 3 and 4 were such a mental and physical game. I couldn’t speak, and just counted to 20 over and over again in my head until the run was over. Sounds like a blast, right?

This was my hardest run in a long time. I felt totally gassed after mile 2. Miles 3 and 4 were such a mental and physical game. I couldn’t speak, and just counted to 20 over and over again in my head until the run was over. Sounds like a blast, right? - But I finished. I kept moving. Mit dem heutigen 2-Stunden-Lauf wurde das Tapering vor dem nächsten “Wettkampf-Wochenende” eingeleitet.

After binge watching #TigerKing last night and this morning, I got my body moving with a loooong and tough workout today. 🐯

Tried to map out our loop for the 26.2 we plan on running since Milwaukee was cancelled, but I took a wrong turn😂 That's usually how I do things 😂 But look at how beautiful mistakes can be! It was an amazing time getting some miles in!

Eating food that sits well with me and doesn’t give me massive stomachs and digestion issues has been a task, but I think I’ve finally found something that works really well for me > inspired by @alexa.eg! 
Before a long ride or run I always opt for a big bowl of porridge filled with;
⁕ 60g oats
⁕ chia & flaxseed
⁕ 1 kiwi
⁕ 1 banana (half in half on top)
⁕ 1/2 pear
⁕ frozen berries
⁕ spoon of tahini
⁕ spices > cinnamon, turmeric, pepper, pinch of salt
This brekkie gives me all the nutrients and deliciousness for a successful morning training. 
For a shorter run/training, of I don’t have time, I would remove a lot of the fibrous foods, but keep the same base (banana, oats, cinnamon).
For a long run, I have it at least 2 hours before, and for a cycle ride, it ranges from 1-2hours (depending on how slow I get ready). -

Dass Bewegung an der frischen Luft gesund ist und Körper, Geist und Seele gut tut, hat der heutige Lauf mal wieder bestätigt. ☝🏻☺️ .

Den ganzen Tag haben mich hämmernde Kopfschmerzen geplagt. 😓 Die ganze Woche war ziemlich nervenaufreibend, dazu wenig Schlaf 💤 und viel zu oft viel zu wenig getrunken. 🤷🏻‍♀️ .

Doch schon nach den paar hundert Metern war das Dröhnen hinter der Stirn verschwunden - und sie sind auch nicht mehr wieder gekommen 👌🏻 .

Laufen macht also gleich auf mehreren Eben den Kopf frei 🤗😅

In all seriousness though I’m struggling. As with every issue I’ve ever faced, my mental illness remains the biggest imminent threat to my wellbeing. I’m not training because I have had panic attacks every time I try to leave the house, even though I know I’m allowed to and it’s safe. My husband is still working and even though I know he’s not going to have anything bad happen to him, this heightened state of anxiety that the whole world is in means that it’s nearly impossible to have my logical brain win. There are times when I can barely breathe till he’s home. I’m worried for my entire family and Australia feels like an entire world away. And it’s impossible to do anything even if we were close. 
My body is SORE from suddenly becoming sedentary but I’m too weary to move. I’m just getting through the days right now and hoping that I’ll adapt soon. My plan for tomorrow is just to try and walk around my back yard in the sunshine. It’s a small goal but I think it will help. 
Someone lie to me and tell me I will still have tonnes of time to be ready for my ultramarathon walk at the end of August???!
I feel like I’m failing at everything right now. .

How are you doing? No, really. How are you? Are you taking care of yourself? Are you able to breathe deep? Do you have a safe space to share and cope with the chaos amongst you?
Today, I am ok. I am able to take deep breaths, which I wasn't able to yesterday. Managing my stress and the anxiety of others is more than I can hold right now. Work stress is through the roof and stress at home and fears for the health and safety of my family and loved ones made me crumble. But I made it. I'm here and I have my outstanding community to thank for it.

I take rest days when I feel I need one and don’t tend to schedule them in - I go by the philosophy that your body tells you what you need, be it exercise, food or rest.

My energy these past weeks have been through the roof (I give a lot of credit for this to my half avocado a day), so this good a time as any to just slow down

Es gibt so Tage, da fällt es unglaublich schwer, sich zum Laufen aufzuraffen. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Heute war so ein Tag. Der Wecker ⏰ ging schon früh und der Arbeitstag war lang und kräftezehrend 🥴. Dazu kamen die immer noch ziemlich schwere 🦵🏼Beine.

Intervalle sind definitiv nicht meine Lieblings-Trainingseinheit 🤷🏻‍♀️🙈😅

Auf einmal besinnt man sich auf die kleinen Dinge und lernt zu schätzen, was man hat. 🤔

Ich empfinde es aktuell als ungeheures Glück 🍀, durch das Laufen 🏃🏻‍♀️ einen Teil meiner Freiheit bewahren zu können. Auch wenn es im Moment heißt ☝🏻 „Abstand halten“ und ☝🏻 #runalone, so habe ich jeden Lauf in dieser Woche - egal wie anstrengend er auch war - zutiefst genossen. 🥰

Der Frühling 🌷 kehrt ein und die Natur erwacht zu neuem Leben. 🤩Hoffentlich werden auch wir bald alle wieder so unbeschwert und sorgenfrei umher schwirren, wie es die eifrigen Bienchen 🐝 gerade tun. 
Und dann vielleicht etwas mehr zu schätzen wissen, wie wertvoll unsere Freiheit ist!

Sorry I’ve been quiet on here today - I left Yorkshire yesterday and have been frantically plotting running and cycling routes near my parents house now. •
Today’s training was a long 18k trail run in the forest, followed by a 34k ride in the afternoon.

This mornings run was actually glorious, think sunshine, birds, mud and smiles. 
The cycling however not so successful - more along the lines of people and dog dodging and getting lost. 
Back to the strava route planning!

Motivation Monday. Do you know the most important thing that I've learnt over the years? How IMPORTANT progress photos are! The first photo was taken 31st January 2020, the second this evening. That is 7 weeks apart. I have a confession to make - about three weeks ago I stood on the scales and started beating myself up because I'd put on weight - to be fair, I had a bit of a hissy fit, oh so dramatic ha😂. I had a discussion with my sister about it and decided I was going to ignore the scales - I know I work hard, I eat well and I do not need a set of scales to tell me that. So I haven't stood on the scales since and don't intend to 🤷🏻‍♀️ and these photos show that you do NOT need a set of scales to show you how far you're progressing! We all have different journeys, what I'm trying to say is please don't do a Cheryl and tear apart how hard you've worked and the progress you've made over a number. Oh and please do take progress photos 👏🏼😄

Tonight's workout was a 45 minute Kayla resistance workout (focusing on abs and arms) followed by stretching and foam rolling after LSR. Starting to love active recovery! Hope you have all had a good Monday ✔

Whilst we are here, I know it's everywhere we look but I cannot stress the importance of self isolating right now - please please, if it is NOT necessary do not leave your house! Aside from running (and isolating) and grabbing necessary food I haven't left my house for nearly two weeks - please do the same so we can beat this virus and protect those people that are so vulnerable. Everyone has a part to play - please play yours. Thank you.❤
