Escape to the twin of Jakarta, overall similar but different. 🤪Traffic jam, crowded, scam, pickpocket (esp Metro Manila), buuuut many friendly people will help you too (have to wisely choose and keep watchful 😬) Manila has “Kota Tua” called Intramuros (latin: inside the wall), in one of part of castle used for execution on japan colonialism may be similar with “lawang sewu”. Loads of tricycle touts here, they’ll offer then following you. If you choose to deny, just ignore them. But if you interest with cycle tour, you’ve pay P200-300/hour (for 2-3). That’s worthed bcause driver as a guide tour will tell story of all historic core.
Btw Jakarta has macdi🍔Manila has macdo. Pinoy ( Manila person) mostly choose gravy for fried chicken than sauce (chilli). Fyi Mcd hasn’t sauce.
Jakarta call 🌯 kebab, in Manilla called Shawarma. Kebab means slice of beef and usually served with rice.
I firstly tried “kembang tahu”, they call it Hot Taho 🍮♨️. It’s served hot palm sugar and small boba. I bought it P50
Language, bahasa and tagalog are similar. 👞 Jakarta call Sepatu, they call Sapatos. Entrance mean masuk in bahasa and pasuk in tagalog. Salamat in tagalog mean thank you. And many other word.
And the last info, if you use bus, Jeepney (like angkot or bemo ) say “para” for stop. You can say “para po!” (po has no meaning like ‘the’ or ‘ji mi ki’ at sulawesi)
