They’re a great source of many nutrients, particularly potassium, magnesium, and B6. But really, I eat them bc they’re sooo delicious, convenient, and cheap! ❤️. We eat them almost every single day.

🤔Did you ever wonder what happens as they change in color? If so, here you go!
⠀
green —> yellow —> brown
as the 🍌ripens:
✅resistant starch content decreases
✅tastes sweeter - resistant starch turns into sugar
✅gets digested easier and quicker (causing a spike in the blood sugar)
✅some of the micronutrient levels decrease - happens with all produce to some degree once harvested
✅antioxidant levels increase
⠀
For babies and toddlers, really green  may be too hard on their little tummies and can cause or make pre-existing constipation worse.
⠀
they are a great source of prebiotics though (check out my previous post). I purchase unripe banana and start offering it to Caleb when it is predominately yellow with a slight hint of green (as pictured). Yellow ones disappear ever so quickly around here, and the brown ones get used for baking 👍.

⏰if you want to speed up the ripening process, place in a brown paper bag. if you want to slow it down then place in the refrigerator. The peel will turn brown but the inner flesh will be just fine.

Summer time is here and if you want to get in shape quickly this post is the post for you.

So time and time again I see individuals making these mistakes and they end up spinning their wheels. Losing fat actual is the quickest process btw. So lets dive into it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1). Cardio:
-Use cardio as a tool, we want to use it to push the caloric deficit down or to insure that we are burning more than we consume. That should be about it, if you want to keep lean muscle mass on, do not over do the cardio. 20-40 minutes anywhere from 1-4 sessions a week is great. Don't go into it with two a days at the gym doing an hour each time.

2). Protein:
-Gotta feed the muscle, the muscle does not grow in the gym but only in rest and recovery and if you are not eating the correct macros nutrients, "protein" being one of the most important of the three, you will not carry the correct amino profile for optimal muscle growth. Also if you are in a caloric deficit, it's going to make it that much harder to put on size. I choose to either cut or lean gain as I know that gainer sizing and cutting at the same time is near impossible at my level.

3). Resistance Training:
-Always train with moderate to heavy loads, to build lean muscle mass we have to give it a reason to hold onto it. While losing weight, you also don't want to lose just weight. We want to lose fat and the only way to shift this focus is with resistance training with weights.

4). Macros:
-So even though you may be eating "healthy or clean" the macros are what determines the composition of your body. Eat enough protein, carbohydrates and fat to fuel your workouts, repair and recover.

Summer time is here and if you want to get in shape quickly this post is the post for you.

So time and time again I see individuals making these mistakes and they end up spinning their wheels.  Losing fat actual is the quickest process btw.  So lets dive into it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1). Cardio:
-Use cardio as a tool, we want to use it to push the caloric deficit down or to insure that we are burning more than we consume.  That should be about it, if you want to keep lean muscle mass on, do not over do the cardio.  20-40 minutes anywhere from 1-4 sessions a week is great.  Don't go into it with two a days at the gym doing an hour each time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2). Protein:
-Gotta feed the muscle, the muscle does not grow in the gym but only in rest and recovery and if you are not eating the correct macros nutrients, "protein" being one of the most important of the three, you will not carry the correct amino profile for optimal muscle growth. Also if you are in a caloric deficit, it's going to make it that much harder to put on size. I choose to either cut or lean gain as I know that gainer sizing and cutting at the same time is near impossible at my level.

3). Resistance Training:
-Always train with moderate to heavy loads, to build lean muscle mass we have to give it a reason to hold onto it.  While losing weight, you also don't want to lose just weight. We want to lose fat and the only way to shift this focus is with resistance training with weights.

4). Macros:
-So even though you may be eating "healthy or clean" the macros are what determines the composition of your body.  Eat enough protein, carbohydrates and fat to fuel your workouts, repair and recover.

Creamy Chicken Adobo

Adobo is a popular Filipino dish and the process involves cooking the meat in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic and black peppercorns. But this version has a twist. Coconut cream is added to the dish which makes it creamier and richer in taste.
----------------------------‐------------------
🍽 Servings: 1

Ingredients:
150g Chicken Thighs or Legs
2 cloves Garlic, crushed
1 tsp Black Peppercorns
1 pc dried Bay Leaf
1 Tbsp Coconut vinegar
2 tsp low-sodium Soy Sauce
1.5 cups Chicken Stock
1.5 Tbsp Coconut Cream
1 tsp Olive Oil

Procedure:
1) Heat olive oil in a braising pan.
2) Add chicken and sear until brown on both sides.
3) Add stock, vinegar, soy sauce, bay leaf, garlic, black peppercorns. Simmer for 20-25 minutes.
4) Reduce pan juices and stir in coconut cream.
5) Season as needed with salt.

Ingredients (for 4 servings)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (30 mL)
5 cloves garlic, minced
4 spring onions, divided
2 carrots, cut into matchsticks
1 cup snap pea (100 g)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons soy sauce
9 oz dried rice noodles (250 g), cooked

Preparation
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and 3 spring onions and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Add the carrots and peas, before stirring in the brown sugar and soy sauce.
Add the noodles and mix together for another couple of minutes.
Season with salt and pepper, then slice remaining spring onion and top to serve.
Enjoy!

(For 1 Serving)⁣
6 oz salmon(170 g), 1 fillet⁣
1 egg⁣
1 tablespoon olive oil⁣
3 cups spinach(130 g), roughly chopped⁣
1 clove garlic, minced⁣
1 lemon, cut into wedges⁣
salt, to taste⁣
pepper, to taste⁣
⁣
👩‍🍳PREPARATION👨‍🍳⁣
1. Preheat oven to 325F (160C).⁣
2. Pour oil into a small, oven-safe skillet. Place the spinach and garlic in the skillet, season with a pinch of salt and pepper, and mix well so that everything is evenly coated.⁣
3. Place the salmon on 1 side of the pan, then form a well on the other side and crack an egg, making sure it stays intact.⁣
4. Season the tops of the salmon and the egg with another pinch of salt and pepper.⁣
5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C). (The temperature will continue to rise once it rests out of the oven.)⁣

Something that really frustates the hell out of me, is people going through hell and back, just to lose a few pounds, with trying to follow their meal plan.⁣⁣

Ingredients (for 4 servings)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (30 mL)
5 cloves garlic, minced
4 spring onions, divided
2 carrots, cut into matchsticks
1 cup snap pea (100 g)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons soy sauce
9 oz dried rice noodles (250 g), cooked

Preparation
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and 3 spring onions and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Add the carrots and peas, before stirring in the brown sugar and soy sauce.
Add the noodles and mix together for another couple of minutes.
Season with salt and pepper, then slice remaining spring onion and top to serve.
Enjoy!

Probably one of the most nutritious meals you can have ☺️ Packed with immune-boosting vitamins, minerals and healthy fats.⁣

📝INGREDIENTS📝⁣
(For 1 Serving)⁣
6 oz salmon(170 g), 1 fillet⁣
1 egg⁣
1 tablespoon olive oil⁣
3 cups spinach(130 g), roughly chopped⁣
1 clove garlic, minced⁣
1 lemon, cut into wedges⁣
salt, to taste⁣
pepper, to taste⁣
⁣
👩‍🍳PREPARATION👨‍🍳⁣
1. Preheat oven to 325F (160C).⁣
2. Pour oil into a small, oven-safe skillet. Place the spinach and garlic in the skillet, season with a pinch of salt and pepper, and mix well so that everything is evenly coated.⁣
3. Place the salmon on 1 side of the pan, then form a well on the other side and crack an egg, making sure it stays intact.⁣
4. Season the tops of the salmon and the egg with another pinch of salt and pepper.⁣
5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C). (The temperature will continue to rise once it rests out of the oven.)⁣
6. Squeeze a bit of fresh lemon juice over the salmon fillet for more flavor and let the salmon rest for 5 minutes before serving.⁣
