97% of women today will be cruel to their bodies.
Glamour did a study back in 2011 that found out that 97% of women admitted to having at least one “I hate my body” moment each day.
“I look awful.”
“My legs look disgusting.”
“I hate how my arms jiggle.”
And the list goes on and on.
How a wife views herself will matter greatly of how intimate she is with her husband.
If you are struggling with intimacy with your spouse due to poor body image, here are 3 action steps that you can do:
1. Stop comparing yourselves to others- I see this all the time when I’m out with my wife. Women are consistently comparing themselves with other women.
I’ve seen daggers shot at my wife and she isn’t doing anything. I know society has tried to establish a ranking order but that is not the case. Stop eyeing down other women at the grocery store.
Social media is also a vehicle where women compare themselves to each other. The truth is most of those images are fake. Stop following those accounts on social media who make you feel bad about your body. Be you and be amazing at doing you.
2. Notice your inner critic- You, and not anyone else, are the person who can hurt you the most. Your inner dialogue can either build you up or tear you down.
Change the conversation you are having with yourself about your body. Don’t accept any negative thoughts about yourself. Replace them with positive thoughts about your body.
3. Focus on being healthy- What are your motives on why you do what you do? Your motive for health should not be to get skinnier, to change my body, or to look better.
Your focus needs to be eating right and exercising enough. You need to have balance. (Side note: My wife @lynettemarieh
is amazing at helping people with this.)
With the right balance, you feel better about yourself and it becomes easier to take care of your body.
As you improve your body image, you will feel more comfortable around your spouse. Intimacy will increase and this will lead to more confidence. A confident wife is a really sexy wife.
