OMG! I made homemade bagels today and it wasn’t a total fail. They look pretty decent and turned out so good. Swipe right to see they were husband approved.
These were not made gluten free today, as I usually do that more so as a fear food issue, to appease others and or all of the above.
I find I do alright as long as the ingredients are few, fresh and real. 🥨
As you probably saw in my stories I got a lot excited to share my first experience... so sorry for the bagel spam!
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 1/4 teaspoons of active yeast
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon brown sugar ( I used coconut sugar on hand)
1 tablespoon melted unsalted butter
3-4 cups non bleached flour ( incorporate until dough is not sticky and bounces back)
Sea salt for sprinkling over the top!
Then about 7-9 cups water brought to a boil with 1/2 baking soda. - This is for dropping the bagels in for about 20 seconds- helps get that lovely chewy texture. 🥰
