HAZELNUT SPECULOOS TART (S$5.50 but last time got discount so it was S$4.40)
Hazelnut and Speculoos, everyone knows how good these spreads are on their own, but when combined, how will they turn out? I’d say @whiskitcafe
did a pretty good job.
I refrain from spreading both nutella (hazelnut) and biscoff on my toast because the flavors turned out ruined, but they went along pretty good in this tart. Set atop of their very good tart base are smooth fudgy hazelnut ganache (like nutella but with bolder chocolate flavor, and thus, nice) with a speculoos element inside, topped with nice candied hazelnuts and of course, half of a biscoff cookie. Hazelnut stood out more in this tart but there was notable speculoos flavor, and the transition between them was also okay.
Overall sweetness was totally acceptable, I mean, it’s nutella and biscoff but it wasn’t over-sweet, also because the tart was quite small.
One thing I’d like to mention is that their tart base is really good! I actually visited them some while ago when I just moved to SG and that was the one thing that I remembered: tasty tart base which is not that thick but excellently carried that gentle crunchy texture and buttery flavor.
