The renegade row is an awesome exercise you should be including in your training. 
It’s a compound exercise that will strengthen a weak core, improve overall performance, and stimulate muscle growth.
Why should you do them❓❓ 🔥They target your anterior core and help train your body to avoid arching at the lower spine. This will keep you away from injuries in the future.
🔥They target the chest, shoulders, triceps and last
🔥It is a unilateral movement which can increase muscle activation, hypertrophy, movement awareness, and core stability.
🔥They can really get the heart rate elevated for a great way to burn the calories. 
How are they done?
1️⃣From a push-up position with the dumbbells beneath your shoulders and your arms locked out. 
Keep your hips level, avoiding a arched spine or a ⛺️ look.
2️⃣Keep your feet a little wider than shoulder width. A wider base will help you in preventing rotation. As you progress, you can bring the feet closer and challenge your core more.
3️⃣Perform a full push-up. Tuck your elbows to 45 degrees.
4️⃣After the push-up, row one dumbbell towards your hip while pushing the non-working dumbbell and your toes into the ground. This will serve as a cue to keep your toes from coming off the floor and will help you stabilize and prevent rotation.
5️⃣Row the weight slow and prevent your hips from rotating. If you can’t stay stable I would recommend dropping the weight a bit. 
Don’t rush the process. 
6️⃣Return the dumbbell to the floor, repeat on the opposite side. 💪💪

Pushing myself out of my comfort zone this week. Massively shitting it, not sure if I’m making the right decision but I think I’ll have more regret if I don’t do it than if I do and things just go a bit tits up for a month or so. I’m definitely on the other side of 60 and things can hurt occasionally. For me, it’s my thumbs and my big toes, mostly. 🙄

I’ve done many things to make pain points less painful by losing 35 lbs., eating a strictly plant-based diet and I get 7-8 hours of sleep consistently. I now am able to drink lots more water. And I exercise, faithfully...even when I hurt. .

When I get up in the morning the last thing I want to do is exercise but I put on my pain cream and make myself. How and why? Because I KNOW from experience that once I get moving all that pain goes away. I used to not want to exercise when I woke up hurting, thinking it would hurt me somehow, but that was wrong thinking. Movement begets movement. If you want to stave off the effects of aging which includes mental decline - move! Keep moving!

Tom and I always say, as we’re leave the Y, how much better we feel and more alive! It feels like our blood flows better, our limbs warm up and we feel POWERFUL!

Trust me on this. Always check with your doc that you can begin exercising -carefully -but unless you are very ill, moving will make your life so much better! It has done that for us!! And I’m SO thankful for each wonderful day we are blessed with that we have good health and the ability to MOVE!!!

The Half Kneeling Overhead Landmine Press is a great shoulder friendly upper body pressing exercise. Many shoulder issues are exacerbated by a lacking ability to move the shoulder blade on the rib cage with a stable well aligned torso/core. When done correctly, the Half Kneeling Overhead Landmine Press encourages both of those elements that are essential to maintaining healthy shoulders. Here are some Key Coaching Cues:
🔸In the half kneeling position, slightly tuck your tail bone and squeeze the glute of the back leg to create a subtle (but not aggressive) stretch on the trailing leg hip flexors
🔹Push hard into the floor with the front foot. Brace the core to resist extension and rotation in the lower back
🔸Start with the bar in line with your Sternum. Press the bar up with both hands, Remove one hand and lower the bar.  Press straight out, not across your body, and slightly lean into the press as the bar goes overhead. Breathe in through the nose on the down portion of the movement, and blow out hard through the mouth on the up portion of the movement
🔹Do not allow the elbow to “migrate” past the torso, or allow the shoulders to roll forward
🔸As the bar is pressed overhead the shoulder blade should upwardly rotate. As the bar is lowered the shoulder blade should downwardly rotate towards the spine
🔹Keep the chin tucked so that the cervical spine is in a neutral position
