🚂. A collection of thoughts.
1.Not sure what the policies there are in the more "civilised" Europe, but, I guess, over here they don't ask a woman of she is okay to spend the night in a compartment with a male stranger.
2. My mum, having spent years living abroad, finds herself very bothered and angered by a lack of friendliness and smiles, a lack of manners, a lack of kindness, and I often try to stand up for these people thinking of their current hardships, their history, the system that left its marks decades later and to an external descerning eye is perceived as a slavery that carries on, an inconspicuous slavery.
3. BUT me too- being human, and being ever-bothered by human unwillingness to stand up for our rightful freedom by taking time in our lives to think and examine, me too, I get fed up.
I made 3 attempts at small talk, not that I wanted to, but it seemed almost necessary given we were supposed to sleep in very closed proximity to one another in a box with a door locked. To no avail, weird and inappropriate as the silence felt to me.. It is bewildering how we should be so similar as humans, all having the same basic needs, and how big a chasm there can be between us, and it is us who create it.
