Painting My Life
This 24x24 acrylic painting on wrapped canvas is titled “Consider The Lily”. Consider the lilies of the field, they toil not neither do they spin. But I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.” There are lessons for us from the natural world. The spiritual teacher called Jesus made the above statement. He was telling us something important. The radiance of the lily does not come from toil, from work, from spinning, from keeping our nose to the grindstone.
We work, we fret, we grasp, we worry, we accumulate, and still we do not approach the realm of the beautiful and fragrant lily which stands for purity, virtue, hope, faith, renewal, promise, and remembrance. Lilies go far back to the ancient Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians.
Lilies are simple. They grow slowly, intentionally. A lily does not try to be a rose. A rose does not try to be a daisy. Solomon in all of his wealth, importance, and power could not compare with a simple flower growing in a field. This should make us all stop and take note.
Let us not rush. Let us not toil incessantly. Let us not spin in circles trying to accomplish it all. Let us focus on what is important, what is meaningful, what is dear to us. Be like the lilies of the field and just bloom where you are planted. #nashvilleartist #nashville #liliesofthefield #liliestoilnot #liliesdonotspin #radiance #purity #hope #virtue #faith #renewal #promise #remembrance #impressionism #artistofinstagram #availableforpurchase
