LET’S TALK COLOR CORRECTION!
This gal came in to the salon after she and her sister tried an at home blonding on her natural level 3 (almost black) hair. As you can see, within the same section of hair there’s multiple different tones, dark, light, in between, but no consistency at all. After a thorough consultation I advised her that trying to lift this evenly enough would be near impossible- and with her hair already compromised not worth the risk. So, I started by using a demi-permanent color (diarichesse 5N/5BG) to melt down her base covering patches of orangey blonde. I told her I would salvage as much of her blonde as possible, so I left her ends out and pulled the color through in inconsistent areas. We then shampooed reapplied toner to her base (diarichesse 4N/4NB) to deepen and make sure her base was even, applied toner to her ends (diarichesse 7N/7NB/8BG) to cancel brass from mids-ends, processed for additional 15 min. She then received a conditioning treatment, cut, blow dry & style.
This correction could have been SCARY- and thinking back to when I first came into this hair world I might’ve tried to lighten this. Instead having this client come back for highlights to reach her goal slowly will keep her hair looking good AND feeling it.
