💚LEG DAY w/ a sprinkle of core💚

I switched it up a little! Instead of doing full body 5 days a week (😅 lol) I’ll be doing split work, so lower/upper/lower/upper & of course full body for Friday! There’s a number of reasons why, but my main one is to isolate certain muscles and start seeing the muscle definition! —— 6 exercises 4x10-20 reps 
1. Deadlift
2. Good Morning 
3. Seated Calf Raises 
4. DB Leg Extension
5. Leg Press
6. Overhead Reverse Lunge

One of the most underrated pieces of equipment I rarely see people use at the gym anymore is the Trap Bar/ Hex Bar. The dope thing about using the Trap Bar is that you get to use squat mechanics and get deadlift benefits. 💪

This is definitely one of my favorite go to exercises when focusing on power, explosiveness and overall lower body strength. 💥

Hex bar deadlifts great for knee rehab as well as beginners as they load your quads and put less stress through your lower back. 
They also require less mobility which might be lacking after knee surgery!

Do you want to step up your farmer carry game? Try adding plates dangled by resistance bands to each end of the bar. If that is not challenging enough, add a resistance band around a sled and pull from the hip crest while farmer carrying. -

Jeff likes to get TJ to use the hex bar for his squats. As TJ has a shoulder injury so putting any weight on his back or shoulders can not happen. Using a hex bar is a great alternative and as you can see works out quite well for him ~

In the first video we see TJ working his form. In the 2nd video we see TJ and Jeff both squatting 315pounds but two different ways. And of course finally TJ is getting his nutrition under control for the “cutting” part of his exercise plan.

My back has been dicey so I picked a single leg movement for my heavy work and the belt squat to give my spine a break while still hammering my legs. Wrapped up with sled drags. Work around it, no one feels good everyday, leave your excuses at home!

It’s no secret I love the trap (hex) bar. 
I particularly like it for deadlifts. For the tall guys, with long arms and legs I train, i have found it to be invaluable. 
𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙖 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙝𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙩, 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚. I first saw it on @coach_kassem &/or @n1.education page (give them a follow for excellent info!). Immediately I knew it would be a great fit for me and a lot of my clients. 
If you struggle with traditional squats and deadlifts then, I suggest you give his a go. It’s kind of a hybrid of a squat and deadlift and hits a huge amount of muscle mass in one move. 
Doing this early in your session, heavy for sets or 6-10 reps is an excellent way to kick off a training session. 
If you’re replacing regular deadlifts with these get ready for some impressive DOMs in your quads for a few days afterwards!

WANT TO MAKE THIS EXERCISE EVEN BETTER/HARDER/MORE BRUTAL??? Do it with bands added. The bands match your strength profile and make every millimetre of the lift maximally effective. As a result, it possibly the most efficient mass builder I know of.

Straight bar or Hex bar?

They both have their advantages.
.
Straight bar you work the chain of muscles in the back of your body, from calves, hamstrings, back, and arms.
.
Hex bar is good for those that find it harder to bend, using loads of core muscles, it can be a bit more quad dominant due to the hold position.
.
Hand grips can be changed on straight bar, therefore bringing in more biceps and shoulders..
.
Both are great to mix up in your workouts, as they are a compound exercise [more than one muscle group being used].
.
For those short of time compound exercise are the most beneficial.

I am so proud of this woman. I wish I had the picture I took of her first attempt at hex bar deadlifting months ago. We had to shut it down due to excessive rounding of her spine.

I took this video mostly to show @ateske01 how far she has come in the last year. Her face light up at her success to correct so much of her form. It’s a win folks and she will only be making more! 🙌

I am so proud of this woman. I wish I had the picture I took of her first attempt at hex bar deadlifting months ago. We had to shut it down due to excessive rounding of her spine. 2️⃣ KB SWING modificado: De nuevo, una goma elástica acentúa la fase excéntrica en el Swing, y de nuevo nuestra cadena posterior está obligada a frenar esa fase con contracciones excéntricas a velocidades muy altas.

Do this instead...
✔️Set your stance in the middle of the bar about hip width to shoulder width apart (it's different for everyone so play with the stance to find what feels strongest for you...I recommend starting with hip width apart and adjust if needed).
✔️Hinge your hips back as your initial movement.  Knees stay stacked over your ankles or slightly forward
✔️Grab the handles directly in the middle
✔️Pull your shoulders down and back "actively close your armpits" to engage your lats.
✔️Take a big belly breath in and engage your core ✔️Keep your entire upper body tight/engaged and your spine neutral as you drive your feet into the ground and PUSH with your legs to stand up.

Levantamento terra (deadlift) com barra hexagonal (Hex Bar ou Trap Bar) é uma variação do tradicional levantamento terra realizado com a barra reta.

A principal diferença entre os dois (barra hexagonal - imagem a direita X barra reta - imagem a esquerda) é que a execução com a barra hexagonal permite que o tronco assuma uma postura mais vertical, consequentemente:

Menor a exigência sobre a coluna lombar (isso já torna o exercício interessante para aqueles indivíduos que não suportam altas cargas na coluna lombar);
.
A articulação do quadril fica mais próximo da linha trajetória dos pesos fazendo com que o torque  no quadril também seja menor.

I use this piece of equipment nearly every day with one client or another regardless of age or fitness level. The reason for this is it works more total body muscle tissue than maybe anything else around while also requiring very little technical proficiency.
This version is not only safer on the lower back and shoulder/biceps than the traditional barbell deadlift but also the shorter range of motion makes it great for taller individuals who may have trouble with the knee/hip flexion while keeping a flat back required of the traditional deadlift.
Muscles worked: Glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, lower back/core, as well as mid/upper back)

Nachdem ich schon mehrere Monate keine Hexbar mehr angefasst habe, wollte ich heute einfach mal probieren, was so geht. Da heben an der Hexbar Richtung Autokreuzheben geht, ist dies eine gute Übung, die man mal einbauen kann.
Da ich von @hayabusa.spaghetti und @michi.j.s inspiriert wurde, bin ich einfach mal bis auf 250kg hochgegangen um zu gucken was geht und das hat auch gut geklappt. Da waren 5X5 250kg einfach mal so drin. Das wäre dann mein neuer Rekord😁. Ich bin guter Dinge und hoffe, dass diesjahr noch die 300kg fallen 😅.

Starting Monday off strong. Was excited to hit the gym when my alarm went off this morning. Went in with the decision that I wanted to try some form of deadlifting today. It’s been a loooong time since I have and I let myself get a little intimidated by it. Figured I’d do it first thing when I got there before people typically come in... of course there was someone who was using it almost my entire lift. He finally cleared out near the end and I went for it. Didn’t go for aggressive heavy weights. Just wanted to get a feel for it again. Went with the hex/trap bar for the first time too which I know hits a bit different combo of muscles than the traditional bar but it worked SO much better for my t-Rex arms so I’m going with it 🦖.

Here is an interesting counter-movement prep/warm up for the Bench Press. I always try to enforce combining agonist-antagonist muscle groups(at least to a certain degree) per session. So here is a fun tri-set we did:
•Hex Bar Inverted Row
•Hex Bar Scrape The Rack Banded Rows
•Head Supported Chest Rows(Reeves Grip)
The main emphasis is on the rhomboids which I like incorporating in to nearly all upper body related sessions as a lot of people neglect their upper back which is a big mistake in my opinion mostly because most of the stabilizer muscles are in the upper back(and you shouldn't neglect any muscle group that you can do).

Here is an interesting counter-movement prep/warm up for the Bench Press. I always try to enforce combining agonist-antagonist muscle groups(at least to a certain degree) per session. So here is a fun tri-set we did: •Hex Bar Inverted Row •Hex Bar Scrape The Rack Banded Rows •Head Supported Chest Rows(Reeves Grip) The main emphasis is on the rhomboids which I like incorporating in to nearly all upper body related sessions as a lot of people neglect their upper back which is a big mistake in my opinion mostly because most of the stabilizer muscles are in the upper back(and you shouldn't neglect any muscle group that you can do). 💯This is a perfect in-season exercise for many reasons. It challenges the entire body, and develops serious functional strength; with minimal tissue damage •
🌪The anti-rotation effect has excellent sport carryover. Often, in game situations; we are faced with unilateral loads and stimuli. To counteract this, our muscles are forced to engage asymmetrically. For example, in this exercise; the anterior muscles on the banded side are engaged. This includes the oblique, serratus anterior, and bicep. Meanwhile, on the non-banded side; the posterior muscles are engaged. This includes the erector spinae, lat, and tricep. Asymmetrical engagement relies on neuromuscular coordination. Therefore, it is a skill; which means it can only be improved through direct practice •
✅This exercise, though very challenging; isn’t taxing on the body. For starters, there is minimal load. Additionally, the most strenuous phase of the exercise is isometric. Whereas typically, the eccentric phase is the most strenuous. The eccentric phase tends to be the most responsible for soreness we experience post workout. Decreasing the strain of the eccentric phase, while increasing the strain of the isometric phase; is an excellent way to reduce soreness and still make significant strength gains. This profound effect is what makes this the perfect in-season exercise. During any sports season, it’s imperative to maintain strength in manner that doesn’t hinder performance, in the way that soreness can. Training in an intelligent manner allows you to achieve this and more •

As a taller lifter with arthritic knees and who is all torso, conventional #barbell #squats and #deadlifts don't work well for me. But that's no excuse to avoid training those movement patterns. 2. Trap Bar RDL: great for making sure you’re shifting weight properly and even less pressure on low back with front/behind weight distribution 
3. Trap Bar Pushups: neutral grip feels good on joints, only progress to rolling bar if VERY comfortable with shoulder stability and strength
