What have you been doing to keep your sanity during this quarantine?
For me, I have been trying to focus on planning for the future to keep my mind off the present situation as much as I can. I’ve also been trying to focus on the things I can control instead of things I cannot. This isn’t an easy mindset for me to have, and I’m sure it will take this whole quarantine to get the hang of, but I find that focusing on positive things to come eases my mind on a day to day basis.
I’ve been putting more time into wedding details and honeymoon planning along with looking forward to friends’ weddings, bachelorette parties, and time that I will be able to spend with my family. Having a trip and life events to look forward to (and the idea that one day we will be out of the apartment) gives me a lot of energy. I’ve found that the energy I’ve gotten from planning and looking forward to the future has given me more energy to do basic things like cleaning the apartment or finding the motivation to shower (lol showering takes more motivation now that I don’t see anyone). I’ve also taken more time to go on walks, have longer chats with friends, read, and take some quiet time which in turn gives me even more energy.
Everybody seems to be coming up with lots of their own ways to deal with the stress of the current situation. No way is right or wrong, but the important thing is that we are all adapting. If it helps you to look forward to the future, let me know what trips you have planned for later this year or what you’re most looking forward to in 2020!
