🥗 🍝Simple advice. One thing I would like to point out though, in my opinion, nutrition should be an 80/20 relationship. Trying to be 100% clean with your nutrition can feel like food prison. It’s okay to have an ice cream cone or a pizza, the key is to strive for 80% of your food sources being the good stuff. That balance will help keep you happy and healthy. What do you think? Is nutrition something we know enough about as a culture?

Many coaches & trainers (including me at one point) assume that the client or reader understands the terms you are using. 🤦🏽‍♀️ The truth is the people out there usually don’t know much about fitness & health.

That’s where I come in —> going to deliver answers here on my page that are easy to understand instead of science-y difficult terms.

Ok back to cal def.

Calorie deficit aka Calories in Calories out (CICO) simply means that you are consuming less calories than you are burning.

A calorie is a measurement of energy.

Food & drinks you consume have calories aka energy.

You want to use/burn more calories than you consume to lose fat.

How?
- Reduce calorie intake (recommended way) You Can try portion control, but the most accurate way is to simply calculate the amount you’re eating currently, then eat less. Also please aim for less processed and refined foods, go for nutrient dense choices. -Exercise more. This includes both resistance training and cardio. Do more of it. Hopefully at least 3x/week. -Move more in general. Walk instead of drive. Park further away. Track steps. Go for a walk after dinner. Many ways to just move more. *There ARE other factors that influence weight loss. But CICO is by far the most influential and will be the first thing I assess & adjust as a coach.

We are all wondering when we will next be able to

see our family again,
travel,
swim in the ocean,
interact with our friends,
have a steady job with a steady income,
take our other half out for a romantic dinner,
work out with our lifting crew,
walk outside without the fear of falling ill.

Instead of wishing these next few months away, make a conscious effort to roll with the punches life has thrown at all of us and make the most out of a situation that is beyond our control.

Now is the time to dream big, get creative, learn a new skill, start a side hustle - do all the things you never used to prioritize.

That being said, let’s get to work team. 💫
We are all wondering when we will next be able to see our family again, travel, swim in the ocean, interact with our friends, have a steady job with a steady income, take our other half out for a romantic dinner, work out with our lifting crew, walk outside without the fear of falling ill. For all of you that do not know what this is. Ironman has came up with a virtual platform for all us triathletes and more do some race specific challenges, keep training and to keep us all motivated around the world as one community.

To date all Ironman branded races and more months ahead have been cancelled due to the Covid-19 Virus.So it’s a great way to stay on track, keep going and be motivated!

This year is more challenging for everyone and for me too because, I can’t control it. I was in my middle of my prep to a show in Porto Rico Pro in May 23, now I’m not so sure about it. Because all the competitions canceled until May 10 and who knows what happened after. I understand that and unfortunately accept it. I decided to continue and still keeping my diet, I do the best I can in this difficult situation and that’s what you should do too! Focus on what you CAN DO and not what you cannot do. If I won’t compete on this show it will be the next one. I’m not giving up! I don’t care how long it takes as long as I won’t stop to believe! My goal this year is to qualified to The Olympia 2020 in Las Vegas and nothing will stop me, even not #coronavirus 💪😷 #nevergiveup #followyourdreams #followyourgoals

I’m 100% accepting whatever physical changes come from not being able to train like usual, but still doing as much running/walking and “lifting” as I can just to stay sane and try to maintain my cardio. Eating super low-carb to help manage weight gain.

The most important thing right now is to stay physically and mentally healthy. Following some kind of nutrition plan and managing your stress and sleep right now can make or break the way the next few months go for you, so don’t give your power away just because things are more difficult right now. Take control of the things you can, and accept what you can’t. We’re gonna get through this! But only you can decide if you come through the other side better and more resilient 👊🏼

I LOVE teaching middle school band... 🎶 But I don't love ALL the parts of my job...

The long days (sometimes multiple in a row), no Saturdays during October, band director drama 🤦‍♀️, the constant battle for absolute perfection...
.
Honestly, it can wear a person out real fast... It's SO easy to get caught up in the band director hustle.
.
By the end of my 3rd year of teaching, I knew I needed some sort of outlet or I wasn't going to make it.
.
During this time, I was watching another middle school band director be able to succeed in the band world AND in her own personal life! She was fit, healthy, and SUPER busy, but she was KILLING IT!!! And I decided that if she could do it, I could, too! 😁
.
So, I dove in. I drank my shakes every day. I worked out every morning. And over time, I saw a change in my body 💪, my heart ❤, and my mindset 🧠! Plus, I was a more positive teacher, I found the good when things got tough, and I feel more balanced in my work and personal life!

It's AMAZING what happens to the rest of your life when you put yourself at the top of your priorities. 😊

Here are some of my favorite banded shoulder movements.

These are simple movement & require only ONE piece of equipment.... okay two.

A long resistance band & a booty band.

Form tips-

Booty Band Shoulder Press Aparts: really focus on mind muscle connection here. You want to keep your forearms bent at 90°, parallel with the floor, and use your shoulders to press apart the band. These are killer if done correctly! I usually like to do 15-25 reps.

Booty Band Shoulder Straight Arm Raise: again, really focus on mind muscle connection. Make sure you push with your shoulders to keep constant tension on the band. Do the movement slow & controlled, never losing tension. I usually do 25-35 reps.

Banded Shoulder Pull Aparts: this one you need mind muscle connection the most. You want to engage your shoulders, not your back. So use those shoulders to pull apart the band- do not squeeze your back together. I usually do 15-30 reps.

Hope all is well! I’ve compiled an upper body focused workout that utilizes resistance bands, a straight bar, and my training partner Bob. If you don’t have a metal bar, just grab a broom from the kitchen.

To increase the intensity, add additional bands, utilize time under tension (tempo), decrease rest periods, and increase total volume.

1️⃣Banded Rows
15 reps x 4 sets 
2️⃣Underhand Rows 
15 reps x 4 sets
3️⃣Shoulder Press
12-15 reps x 4 sets 
4️⃣Face Pulls 
20 reps x 4 sets 
5️⃣Tricep Extensions 
15-20 reps x 4 sets

Personally, I’m just trying to focus on the positives and focus on what i can control. I’m getting in lots of walks and workouts outside, hanging out with my sister and my cats, helping with @stacccked cookies, watching some Netflix, and just trying to  stay busy around the house.
