Going to write a bit of a long personal post, and take a risk here, but I think people appreciate an insight into the behind the scenes a little bit and the hard work that goes into all these amazing products - so here goes! .
Starting up your own brand is hard! It's easy to lovemakeup, and to dream about creating amazing products, but actually creating bomb products is hard work! It takes a long time, especially for an independent new beauty brand, it's an even longer process, than for well established brands. Learning which ingredients are important and good, and what makes a good formula, it's all a learning curve at the beginning. Anyone can spot insane pigment or something that isnt so pigmented, but actually coming up with these products - that takes work. .
It also costs independent beauty brands wayyyy more than it does big names, because we manufacture so much less - so the cost per unit is almost double what big brands pay. But we still do it, and we're still here, because we have dreams! And we've all taken a big risk, some of us with our careers, a big financial risk as well as an emotional one!
People don't realise that once you've spent 12 months creating a product, pouring so much time and energy into that product, it becomes your world! Your baby lol. It is such an emotional investment, and you want the world to love it just as much! I am so, so passionate about our first ever palette, the #coloursplashpalette
but me loving it, being obsessed with it, working insanely hard on it, and being so passionate about it, isn't enough! .
I know that we have an absolutely bomb formulation that is worth every penny, but as a new brand everything is a huge learning curve - and I've realised when we dont have a huge brand name or reputation, how can you I expect you guys to know that this is worth spending on? .
I still have a lot to learn, and this brand is still a baby, but I've realised that I want everyone to have this palette, and I want everyone to know about our brand, more than I care about profit, I'm happy to take a hit - if it means more people see and love our products.
