Two days ago, sha tin protest against the extradition law. This law would allow any citizen from hk to be transferred to China to be judged for their crimes. For anything China decides is illegal. For example, any anti China speech or expression of any kind. Meaning anything China judges to be threatening it’s power. Protest ended, I was in a cafe with my cousin. Heard people screaming for reporters to come and film. Something was happening, people were running. I came out to see protesters forming a human chain to supply helmets, umbrellas, gloves and water. Water to wash out their eyes after policemen sprayed them with pepper spray. Couldn’t see where the chain ended it was so long. I could just see till a massive group of people forming a barrier with umbrellas to protect themselves. Went home, 8-9pm saw the live news on Facebook. Not television, channels only show half the truth. Their truth. On my phone, on my bed, I was watching policemen in full gear telling people to leave. But they were blocking all exists. The government cancelled all subway going through Sha Tin’s station. They told them to leave but made it impossible for them. Citizens on the subway train proceeded to pull the emergency button to stop the train and came together to open the doors for the protesters to leave. Policemen were pursuing them. Beating them. Protesters or passers by alike. They (the police) raided the mall, a public space, without the mall’s authorisation meaning it was illegal. So much for upholding the law.... They violently dispersed people around the mall, protesters or not. It did not matter. You can see on the pictures above, a man being so violently handled by policemen his clothes tore. People were trying to help him escape. He got captured in the end. I woke up today to my mom showing me a live from two days ago: policemen running towards a father and his 3 daughters, passers by. Protesters pushed back the police for the family to be able to run. A member of the press quickly grabbed the father’s hand while he was grabbing his children’s to lead them to safety. They were running. Policemen proceeded to the second floor. People running, screams, fights, blood.
