Give back this season 💕
I don't want this to come across at all 'preachy' but y'all..it's time to step it up this season and give back to this wonderful sport we call eventing. .
Volunteering shouldn't be something you just do to get your hours for high school or because you need to check a box for a program. .
You should volunteer this summer at an event because you have enjoyed the sport from one angle or another and want to help the sport survive and grow. .
You should volunteer because you want to learn something new about the sport and the animals you care so deeply about. .
You should volunteer because you'll meet people in the sport that will become lifelong friends that will be there for you down the road to support you, just like you supported them ... and it’s honestly the best day out. .
The truth is, much of our sport RELIES on volunteers, like it can't happen without them (in Ontario, the @oneventing
is made up of volunteers - those are not paid positions) and only a small percentage of riders who compete ever volunteer. .
SO, eventers of Ontario (past and present), I challenge you to step it up and volunteer in 2020 - even if it's giving up the second half of your day after you've finished at an event , even if you've never done any volunteering at events before (mums, dads, supporters included.. we will teach you!) - let's support our organizers and OEA directors, let's see who comes out! .
Let's do the dang thing and grow the damn sport 🙌🇨🇦🐎 Feel free to DM me if you have any questions or would like to get involved.
