Sorry I have been MIA lately, a lot has been going on at the Stark household.
First, as you can see I have been preparing for this years Krewe of Barkus- hopefully the weather will cooperate. If you are in the North Texas area stop by and say “hi”. The parade is a riot and there will be over 35 vendors.
Second, the ups and downs of Tugger.... so as of last update of Tugger’s bw trending downward and his lack of appetite we decided to get a second opinion. Being that I have been in the vet business for 20 years I have meant a lot of great vets, well one that I had originally thought was farther from us is actually in Dallas! We meant with her last Monday and she sat and talked to me for 2 hours! It is a good thing we loved her and her staff so much because his previous vet dropped us like a hot potato! Yes that’s right after 5 months and an enormous amount of money, I was just too much a pain in their ass. If I have learned anything from our experience I would say that you have to be your dogs advocate, they are voiceless when it comes to treatment and you can only go by what you know is right. At last weeks visit he was so comfortable, he wasn’t shaking or nervous in anyway. He sat in my lap the whole 2 hours just sleeping, he had never been that comfortable before. This vet did not change much but was agreeable to changing his diet from the prescription kidney diet. So far he is doing great on the new food, still not inhaling his food but is eating everything! The best part is that this new diet is much better for his other disease (epi) and thus makes him healthier! They have responded to my excessive emails with kindness and understanding.
Last but certainly not least, sweet Izzy - she has dropped a lot of weight (she did not have any to loose). She keeps us on our toes with her hunger strikes, but since we are on borrowed time we just keep a close eye on how she is feeling. So far she is still her wonderful Diva self!
