Piggybacking on last night’s post, have you ever cooked a whole chicken?
For the longest time, it intimidated the heck out of me.
That’s no longer the case! My two chicken 🥘 must-haves are my Rockcrok Dutch Oven and my new Instant-Read Thermometer.
Rockcrok Dutch Oven: This easily makes my list because it’s the only vessel I’ll ever use to cook a chicken ever again. Have plenty of time? Pop in in the oven uncovered. Bit of a time crunch? You can cook a while bird in the microwave in half an hour. Covered. And it’s beyond juicy. Missing the crunch taking the second route? Have your broiler pre-heated and put your Dutch Oven under it for a few.
Instant-Read Thermometer: This is more impressive when baking your bird, because you can use the cabled probe to monitor the internal temperature as it cooks without opening your oven door. I didn’t even set a timer last night, I simply placed my probe between the leg and thigh and cooked to temp. If you’re microwaving you’re chicken, it’s still important to check your temperature when it comes out because of wattage and strength differences!
I mean, how delish does this look?! I can’t wait to dig in to some leftovers later today!
