Truth bomb: Entrepreneurship is not for the weak.
There are days when I question myself. When I find myself in those moments of overwhelm or exhaustion. In the moments when I feel disappointment in myself because I believe that I can manage it all, but fail to keep up.
When I feel like I’m working the hardest I can, but it’s still not enough. Not only do you have to keep up with the actual creating, but the preparation for each project, the back end admin work, the countless emails and correspondence. There is creative blocks and the pressure of living up to expectations. The financial pressure. And for me, I decided to throw in opening a commercial storefront in there. And if you’ve never tried to open a food establishment...that’s a whole other beast that can suck your soul if you let it.
That’s just the business portion.
Try to throw in work life balance in the mix. Making sure your spouse and children get some of you...which is normally the very last drop of what you have left.
Trying to get some time in for self care...is like trying to drink the right amount of water each day. Most times, it doesn’t happen.
Yes...I struggle...a lot. We never talk about the tough stuff that happens running a business. Who wants to admit that it’s hard and that uncertainty is always looming over your head.
But being an entrepreneur also means, you have it in you to learn and grow. No...we aren’t perfect. We make mistakes. We fail or fall short sometimes. But like I said before...we are not weak.
I am a strong independent woman. Even with all these shortcomings, I don’t give up. When I’m climbing that mountain and it feels hard...I remember that it’s making my legs stronger. I remind myself, that I’ve lived through harder things in my life, and each day of my journey is a stepping stone to lead me to be better than I was yesterday. Nothing great comes easy.
Dear self...you are doing a good job. Give yourself grace for you are doing your very best. Never stop learning. Never give up on yourself. And always be true to who you are, even when you have to take one on the chin. Girl!!! Get your ass back up and fix your MF crown! 👑
