Introverted but willing to talk Zouk...funny story...
I saw this on a Pinterest post and it made me genuinely laugh. I can relate to this sentiment SO hard.
Many times people look into the dance world from the outside and think, "Oh wow they must all be extroverts and LOVE being around LOTS and LOTS of people...I could never do that."
The truth is I'm an introvert and this is just how bad it's been in the past:
When I first started getting into Zouk the closest teacher was 2 and a half hours away. A group of us (@venuseuphoria @theycallmeoscar90 @shelbycorinne)
went EVERY Sunday.
We made that drive count! We tried to make every class and social we possibly could.
I would get so "peopled out" that I would literally FALL ASLEEP at clubs, at the studio, at people's houses...
It got so bad that my friend actually had to have a sit down talk with me about it.
So why, as an introvert, did I keep doing this AND go on to teach and host my own events?!
It's a question of value. I dance because it is my creative outlet, my happy place, my joy! Teaching lights a fire in my soul and creating a safe space for people to express themselves is life.
I value that ⬆️ over the 5 hours of driving, the tiredness I felt, and the money I invested. It was WORTH it to me to be there even if it tired me out. I WANTED to spend my energy and money on dance.
It was worth the price and so I paid it gladly...and it's been an interesting ride, but I can honestly say I'm glad I keep paying it.
