Someone asked me what to do if you get caught among a violent mob of rioters. Not many people have had to survive riots, even less people have survived riots as a minority and a target. I’ve done both multiple times, so I’ll answer publicly. If you find yourself among violent mobs of people wreaking havoc (like what’s going on across the US right now), first try to “match the hatch”. If they’re wearing red (like some political rioting I’ve had to travel through in Central America), grab a red bandana, cover your face and match their frenzied movements. If you speak their language and dialect scream the chants they will be screaming, do what they’re doing but do it on your way out of the area. The plan is to get away from them, but you can’t just run away scared... do it with confidence and join them as you move towards less population density. You’ll essentially disappear to their radar targeting for death destruction. It’s important to not make yourself a target. But that doesn’t always work, if it’s race riots and you’re a different skin color, you’re screwed. If you can’t join them, you’ll have to beat them. I’ve been there too. When the first hate filled eyes snap onto you they are targeting, the longer you wait the more will gather. Sharks sensing blood in the water. If you can’t get away you have to fight. Speed, pain, and blood are the rules you live by now. Your survival depends on it. As fast and as powerfully as you can inflict the most damage possible on the closest person to you. Make them scream. Break bones. Make them bleed. Find a weapon. Move to the next. Do more damage. Make a show. Make noise. Look serious. One may not do the trick, but if you hurt enough of their friends they’ll at least stop and think for a second if you’re really worth it. Every time. It won’t be the parting of the Red Sea but it could be your last chance at living to fight another day. Speed. Shock. A show that will put the kill bill movie series to shame. That’s how to survive a riot. I never had one of my Bone Breacher tomahawks when fighting for my life in the past. But man in wish I had, would have made life a whole lot easier.
