We all have that inner mean girl.. and mine made an appearance this morning.
For the 4th day in a row, I woke up later than I’m used to with this cruddy travel bug sickness.. and felt my anxiety start to creep in.
“𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯’𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘺. 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘐’𝘮 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬?”
“𝘔𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢, 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘵 𝘶𝘱 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨!”
“𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘩, 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘸 𝘶𝘱 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘵𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘨𝘢𝘢𝘢.”
I’m telling y’all, my inner mean girl is kind of a b word that isn’t “𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘵” sometimes.
So I listened. I started to lay out my workout clothes and to prepare for how awful I would feel after..
𝐁𝐮𝐭! Then I had a gut check that went something like this: I would never tell one of my challengers to push through their sickness and workout anyway. Absolutely 𝐍𝐎𝐓.
When one of my girls is sick, I tell her to give herself grace and jump back in when her body feels ready! I say something like “𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘩𝘺𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘶𝘦𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘯𝘶𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 (𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰)!”
The biggest thing I say?
“𝘋𝘰 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘶𝘱, 𝘴𝘪𝘴!”
As humans, we get so spun up about what other people will think of us, but I promise you that the most critical party to your own actions is 𝘺𝘰𝘶.
Somedays we just need a reminder to treat ourselves with the same gentleness we would others.
And if the sick season has claimed you as a victim too, just know that your routine will be waiting for you when you’re ready, sister!💛
