We all love the Great Outdoors, mountains, deserts oceans all our great country offers us. Here at BlueMtn we give up single use plastics every Lent. We’ve done it so long it’s habit for us. But, what we do differently during Lent is talk about it, engage people in the conversation. Every little bit helps. Reduce, reuse, recycle.

My Zeiss Loxia 21mm lens produces the most wonderful sun stars. I positioned myself just right to capture this sun star between the peaks of this massive rock. Funny story. I was hiking along the road when I saw the sun poke through the peak and quickly setup to capture this image. Not 20 seconds go by when another person pulls over their car and shoots the scene with their smartphone. Cars started to pile up behind as people started to wonder what was going on. Thank goodness the road had a section for hikers, bikers, and runners. Editing on this one was pretty straightforward. I just had to clone out a few dust spots and tweak the tones a bit. Scroll to the right for a behind the scenes video clip from this location. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖

It’s fun to post pictures of the extreme winter conditions and I’m not going to miss the mountain winters. What I don’t talk about are the beautiful blue sky days like this one a week or so ago. The sky can be so clear it’s incredible then when I’m walking and an eagle fly’s over my head so close you can look into it’s eyes! It’s incredible! The nights so clear the milky way goes from one edge if the sky to the other. I call these days “ lots of ozone out there today!” There are definitely things I’m going to miss.
[Sound On] Setting off on my Narnia thru hike! ❄️🌲 Can’t wait to get my goat legs! Rocking my Paragon from @gregorypacks that I carried on the AT and my new Gortex Sense Ride 2’s from @salomon. Keeping my feet (soon to be hooves) dry in this wintery wonderland 🐐 #maketime#timetoplay

Headed back to #Granby for the weekend 🏔 but it’s gonna look a lot different than it did over the summer 😳. We’ll be trading in the pontoon boat rental for a snowmobile rental! 👍🏼 Excited for some McKenzie family time to celebrate Dad’s birthday! Love long weekend adventures.
What are your weekend plans? ☀️ Sunshine or snow? ❄️

Surf Hotel in Buena Vista is a must see if you’re ever in town. They nailed their interiors throughout. Would you agree?!
How do you feel about a winter yurt adventure? 💫 ❄️ We’ve posted a collection of 10 awesome yurts in Colorado that can be fully enjoyed during the winter. Some are easily accessible, others require long hikes in for a true Colorado adventure! Link to our round-up in profile 👆
We finally did it! Bought our piece of Colorado heaven! Almost 9000 ft elevation. Took us almost 3 years but we found the right property for us. Next up.... Sell, sell, sell here and move out there to start building a.s.a.p. #frontrange#coloradomountains
❤️ in the log.
Chain saw won’t run continuously. Splitter won’t even start. Everything that could go wrong has tried to go wrong, but we still had a good morning out on the snow. And I felt good enough to help!
This mountain living has been quite the learning curve for us. But we’ve been blessed to have super great neighbors to help and teach us and we are plugging along.
Now, we just gotta get this firewood cut and split so that we don’t run out, because we’re still heating the main portion of the house with the wood burning stove.
A new sticker for those who would rather hang back in the cabin, fix a hot plate of nachos, watch a gruesome murder documentary and smoke a pipe. (this sticker is also available in pink💖)

We are so thrilled to be working with the @granbyco on this important project, and thankful to @skyhinews for such a detailed article! We look forward to a successful project!
"The land trust will put 739 acres of the town’s land into an easement, including the section of the river. Taxpayers will not pay anything for this and the land will still belong to the town.
"A conservation easement is a tool to conserve real property, Colorado Headwaters executive director Jeremy Krones explained, meaning even if the property were to change hands, the title document would stand. The easement restricts property rights of what can be done to the land, but the town will still own it after this process.
"Land easements can be donated or purchased, though usually it’s a mix of both, as in this case. The $3 million Colorado Headwaters will pay for the easement does not cover the entire value, so the remaining amount will be a donation.
"The mayor and Krones both said the primary reason for this easement, beyond the money, is preservation and protection.
“People come to Colorado, people come to Grand County for a reason,” Krones said. “It is our wide open spaces. It’s our access. It’s the wildlife that we see. It’s the water that we have. Conservation easements help to protect that.”
Winter has been great and all, but I’m looking forward to sunshine on my face and dirt under my feet. Stoked about my first summer in Summit County ✨
Re-edit of a photo from two summers ago when I used to carry my camera around everywhere with me. I should get back into that.
