The BLM has officially closed the Alabama Hills National Scenic Area due to the public threat of COVID-19. The National Scenic Area is closed to all user groups, local to Lone Pine and visitors, including but not limited to hikers, RVs, campers, climbers, ATVs, bikers. Lone Pine only has 1 very small hospital with 2 emergency room beds and 4 acute care beds. Normally, this is sufficient to provide care for residents and visitors, but during this pandemic it just doesn’t have the resources. Please help us stay safe and healthy in this difficult time by adhering to the closures. Other climbing areas that are closed are Buttermilks, Volcanic Tablelands (Happy and Sad boulders), and Owens River Gorge. We will do our best to keep you up-to-date on the climbing area closures. Please stay home and help protect the communities of the places you love to climb.
