So today’s non-parkrun parkrun was an interesting affair - some successes, some non-successes and definitely moments where I furiously scanned the scene for the hidden cameras... 1. This weeks RD (me 🙌) overslept, and then frankly couldn’t be bothered to get out of bed. So we didn’t start until 11am!
2. The course check got missed, and so the directions didn’t go out. This meant the lead runner (me 🙌) missed a turn and had to make the route up as she went!
3. There was an incident with a cat, who the lead runner/tail walker (me 🙌) startled and it attacked three times. The first two attacks/jumps at legs were close together but then the little monster cut through a walk way and had another go a few moments later!
4. There was a bit when I walked so as to avoid a poor woman who was clearly rethinking her life choices (possibly due to lockdown), she was clinging onto two boisterous husky type dogs, whilst staring at two discarded bikes, one child laying on the floor screaming like their leg was hanging off and the other child stood crying and shouting “it was an accident, it was an accident”. 5. In my last k I caught up with some runners in front of me, I pretended it was the finish funnel stretch at parkrun, overtook them and finished a fair distance in front of them (I mean reality probably was that they had just run 20 miles or something!), however pleased at how having a bit of mental competition (which I have missed for so long) had a huge benefit on me. For a few minutes I remembered what it’s like to run with other people and how much easier it is for me.
