Brexit, Break City
Since the "yes" by referendum to the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union in June 2016, the state is entangled by the “Brexit”. After months of negotiations that annoy citizens, elected officials and EU countries, a new report called "Halloween Brexit" is in place for October 31, 2019. This is the third in a few weeks and no one knows he will be respected.
In the center of the “Brexit”, where economic issues are at the forefront, a city in the city attracts every attention: the City of London. In the 290-hectare business district in the heart of the capital, the atmosphere is tense. The fallout from this troubled political sequence is being felt today. London has lost the world's leading financial center to New York. Rating agency S & P Global Ratings estimates the loss of quarterly activity since the referendum to € 7.6 billion. According to the Center for European Reform think tank, UK GDP is now 2.3% smaller than it would have been without Brexit.
In this series of streetphotography in the heart of the City, between documentary photo and author's work, "Brexit, Break City" recounts this period of uncertainty. Men in tie suits and women in suits are walking nervously, anxiously. The phone in hand, like an adult blanket. The eyes hypnotized, almost dehumanized. The looks are severe. Laughter is carnivorous. Some seek the air, hide or protect themselves under a file or in a corner of wall. Doubt interferes with the natural confidence of finance workers. How far ?
