“Thomas Eidson's last words were: "It's very beautiful over there." I don't know where there is, but I believe it's somewhere, and I hope it's beautiful.” - Looking For Alaska by John Green
I read Looking For Alaska by @johngreenwritesbooks
at the beginning of this year for the first time and the whole time I read it I kept thinking what an amazing movie it would make. Flash forward to now and I am again brought to tears with this story watching the @alaskaonhulu
adaptation. It was everything I hoped it would be and all of the actors really brought these characters fully to life. I loved it so much that I ended up rereading the book and getting even more out of it this time around. Green has this way of writing so many ordinary things beautifully and really capturing peoples raw feelings and emotions. I might be breaking some sort of book nerd rule but I started highlighting pages of all the phrases that left an impression and I didn’t want to forget. I haven’t always been an avid reader - between the ages of around 15 to 18 I didn’t really read very much for fun. I absolutely could have used this book during those years. I don’t just read YA now as an adult just because I enjoy them or because I missed out on them when I actually was a young adult but now as a parent I have started compiling a list of books I hope my children can turn to during those years in their life. Looking For Alaska is on that list and I hope that when they see all the pages I have highlighted it hits their soul the same way it did mine.
Thank you @penguinteen
for letting me know I needed to watch the series on Hulu and sending me this tie in cover edition to add to my life’s library 🌼🖤
