Starting off a banking career at age 25, I had envisioned that I will give the paid employment life at least 15 years to grow to the peak of my career dream as a Global HR Executive but life happened.
After 11years in my career, I realised that I had almost reached the 15 year mark and was not anywhere close to that dream career. This brought in yet another rude awakening; a feeling of regret, confusion and a quest for clarity and direction.
For the many years I spent in a sales role, I felt a huge loss leaving my HR job at the time I did (due mostly to management decision) and while I felt that a sales role wasn't exactly what I was called to do, I decided to look at the bright side of things and began to see meaning in my role as a sales manager. I realised that the skills and competencies I had acquired in the role had challenged my introverted personality and provided a paradigm shift in the right direction. Before now, I was the type that will excuse every opportunity for public speaking or take up any role that will bring me to the limelight. I am sure that the people who knew me from childhood days would testify, but my role as a sales manager exposed me to the fundamental issues around life and business.
I became aware of
*The principle of Need Identification
*The power of Value Creation and Innovation
*The need for Personal and Business Branding
*Owning My Voice and Speaking my Truth
*Building Profitable Partnerships and Collaboration
*Employing the Discipline of Execution
With the right coaching and mentoring opportunities, I made deliberate decisions towards building my desired career path:
*I invested in my Personal Development and harnessed my multiple skills and passion. This has helped me to carve out a niche for myself and I have deliberately built a personal brand in the area of Work-Life Balance and Personal Effectiveness
*I vigorously pursued my career aspirations by getting globally certified as a Human Resources Professional and founded a thriving Human Capital Development Consultancy that offers Professional Coaching, Training and Human Resources consulting to corporates, government and religious organisations
