Today's prompt is : a specific place
Walking down on the broken narrow sidewalks
I'd often imagine, in the peak of rush hour,
What is it about this city life that pushes people
to leave their homes, to compromise with peace,
to abandon loved ones and allow happiness to cease.
The continuous honking, instant takeouts
the lush green big IT parks and the bursting crowds,
Where would I find such a place that has it all
I mean the city is big and still behave like small.
Don't get me wrong, I've lived in a city of lakes
but never saw a clean one
so my excitement to visit the city of canals was done.
I was standing across this tiny shabby bridge,
on a chilly winter dusk, the grey clouds thundering
on my head, people cycling and walking around
in Tommy Hilfiger jackets and woodland shoes,
new year lights are still not taken out from the street,
it's not too shiny and it's not too dull, the perfect amount,
there is distant sound of church ringing bells,
the fragrance of freshly brewed coffee and croissants,
perceive the mumbling words as the Van Gogh's museum
is getting closed, people swiftly getting in and out of
pretty houses and doors, I thought to myself if I
could find a better place to live, someday. the perfect
combination of sin and truth, hustle and peace,
modern architecture and historical artistic culture.
Someday, may be yes. But not today.
