If the world ends tonight, would you plant a tree?
I took this picture in Paris. The flowers were left there to dry as if the owner if the restaurant left in a hurry.
And so I wondered : how many of us have reacted the same in those uncertain times? Rushing behind our closed doors, leaving life behind... If the world ended today would you plant a tree? Is it worth it? I believe so, because dying today or in a million days, the only moment that matters is NOW.
Moreover, as a wise man said (please comment if you recognize ^^) "the future is never set". One of the most important texts of the Yoga Philosophy is the Bhagavad Gita.
Its main teaching can be summed up as such "no matter what you do, do it without seeking the fruits of your action". Selfless action, rightful action, the path of "Karma Yoga" is one of the hardest for it goes against our innate nature to refrain from wanting the fruits, from acting because of an outcome we believe may occure.
But... the book also says... if you do act disregarding the fruits of the action, you may receive a 1000 fruits... Act because it is right, careless of the results of your action. In pure devotion to this moment.
If the world ends today, would you plant a tree?
