3285. “When I got there, I didn’t know a thing about St. Louis.” Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Kat Ayala first stepped foot on a plane when she was 18 years old. She flew from Bogotá to Medellín to pursue her Statistics degree at Universidad Nacional de Colombia. During her time as a student, Kat also studied abroad in Mexico City, and afterwards moved to Seattle for a summer to study the English language at @uofwa
. She fell in love with travel and therefore used her savings from her careers at @kpmg
and a Dutch retail company to fund her trips. To date, Kat has been to 9 different countries; however, she shared that her favorite city to visit has been St. Louis, MO. She spontaneously visited a friend there back in 2016 and fell in love with the city due to its kind people, including a homeless man with whom she chatted over coffee. In the future, though, Kat hopes to visit Morocco for fun and also plans to pursue her master’s in Business Intelligence & Data Analysis in the U.K. She’s also hoping to return to Mexico City in August, this time to run the Mexico City marathon. Though she says she was lazy back in high school, Kat became a more active person during her time in Medellín and now hopes to also complete an ultramarathon or @ironmantri
at some point in her life! Awesome hanging with you, @lkayalas
