Just to clarify, this post isn’t to hate on Jimmy. He’s had a great year for Miami, getting to the line a ton, attacking the rim, making great decisions with the ball in his hands, providing leadership, and playing good D. He’s been a legitimate All-NBA caliber player and helped develop the Heat culture. It’s just odd to see the disappearing of his shooting ability
Butler’s never been an elite shooter from deep or anything, but he’s been pretty respectable throughout his career (around 34%). Now, he hardly shoots any and his efficiency has gone way down when he does decide to pull it
What’s just as strange is the change in his clutch shooting. He’s had a reputation as a closer and go to guy in the clutch before this year, but
he has an effective field goal percentage of 30.8% on shots when the score is within five points during the last five minutes of the 4th quarter/overtime. He has also shot 1-15 on field goals to tie or take the lead in the final minute of the 4th quarter/overtime
Anyways, what do you think the reason for this is?
